I am pretty sure that Highlands has at least two of him...

CovCath and Campbell are without a doubt the two best teams in NKY. I think Campbell would win all of the distance events and they are better(at this point) in the 3200 and 1600 Meter relays. But CovCath has too much depth in the hurdling and field events. It is called track and field for a reason....On the track Campbell would probably score more points due to the depth in all of NKY in the open events. But unless you watch the field events it would appear Campbell has the better team. CovCath would probably edge them out....but again, it does not matter for they compete in two separate regions and classes. Neither have enough to compete in 3A state meet. You can expect that title to be claimed by a Louisville school, most likely Male.

SK's defense will be pretty good...but when you say Hansel and Miles only played spot downs, can you be more specific? Ok, I will....They played against even or better competition at least every 3rd and 4th down. So they played roughly 30% of the time against quality opponents. Plus, the loss of Picarillo (I spelled his name as you did, if that is the correct sp.) will hurt more than sk fans are letting out to believe.

What stock rating or legacy is there?? He was a solid HS QB, who is soon to be a walk on college QB. I was just theorizing that HHS studs on Def would not be able to stop a collage of all-stars blocking and catching for West...and yes, this was my opinion. But since he is not playing I completely recant my statement since i have no clue who would be the top candidate to replace him.

A college commitment does not exclude a player from All-Star game competition. Many of them actually take the last opportunity to play HS football. I could see everyone but AC, Simpson, and Nichols playing in this one. IMO, the West could have an advantage with West... Sorry for the pun but I don't think the Highlands laden defense will be good enough to stop Nick "West" offense.

There are so many things that contribute to a good defense; size, strength, desire, coaching, and....SPEED. In HS if you want to succeed IMO, speed and desire are the two things that separate you from everyone else. Highlands probably ranks first in most of these categories but other teams may be closing in on them. But until someone in NKY shuts down the Highlands O, I am going to say Highlands....Now to the ordinary teams, I'd say one of the 6A schools, SK or Ryle.

We'll agree to disagree. Unless you can show me statistically to back your belief, i will not change my own. I did not intend to take away from West's or Conner's accomplishments because he was great for that school. I was just stating on what i felt about his ability. When i saw West play, he often overthrew deep balls. There were not very many designed rollouts and he did not throw accurately on the move. But once again, I do think he is a tremendous talent.

I'm not gonna jump down it but lightly step on it...Lorenzen played qb since he was 8 years old, and was an extremely effective one. He also played with several D1 players. Pikes style may be similar, throw the ball and run the ball...to me that sounds like most qb's. :lol: If Pike is a hair on Lorenzen's...head, I will be dumbfounded. :ohbrother:

If Pike played for HHS, he would be playing TE. Without a doubt. He is not and will not be as good as Towles....of course this is only my opinion

Well as stated before, Hempel fills the physical stat sheet. He is a very big, stout individual. His runaway speed is not great but i bet he could get out of the pocket in a rollout just as quick as anyone. His throwing ability is a work in progress but you can't teach the previously mentioned attributes. West, IMO, was a better QB last season...but he was also a year older. I don't believe West had the skill set that Hempel had at the same age level. West's short ball is great, but long ball was not as consistent. The offense was solely based on his ability to throw short, extremely accurate passes (slants and screens). I think he will struggle to see the field at UC but could have been an extraordinary DIII player, kind of like Stellman. But as a HS QB, he was as good as I've seen since Diehl, IMO.

Isnt West walking on at UC?? Plus, Hempel has an offer from a D1 school. So that means both of them are D1 QB's

I don't know about which two you are referring to but Nick West started as a sophomore. Conner Hempel started as a soph.

I do not agree with this statement. Cov Cath is only better than Campbell, outright, in a few events: shot, 300 H, High Jump. Running a normal meet with two comp for each event, the score would actually be closer. IMO

I could understand Simpson, but Hansel?? It's not as if he is going to UK or ND..he should play. May have that chance to dominate those Highlands D-line....:idunno:

I'd say, judging by our map of NKY...Brossart with the Camels and Walton w/ the other Boone schools.

You're right, the district wasnt as deep but the top was still pretty good. SK and Conner were the two teams which were senior laden. Ryle had over 20 seniors but if some of you remember it was a group that had dwindled down from 75 when they were freshman. They all should have some pretty good returning players, but i would def give the edge to Ryle. They will have almost 30 seniors this year, starting very few juniors on the team and potentially zero sophs. They are going to put players on the field that have not had much varsity action but with their off-season workouts and their "learning from the sidelines", some new seniors should be able to turn some heads.

I agree, not in the RB discussion. My comment was to clarify that pioneerforever feels that they had the best O-Line. Then it was inappropriately stated, IMO, that Highlands had 2 all-state lineman. The attempt was made to condemn the previous statement. We all know Highlands had a very good O-Line, they do every year. But to diminish another's attempt to compliment their own line is uncalled for. Maybe a thread should be started, Top RB's in NKY...not on HHS team.:thumb:

Didn't HHS have 2 all-state Kickers on their team? And two all state punters? I even heard that had an all-state Clipboard holder...He must have been really good at that Not everyone on here wants to kiss highlands butt. The man was "self-proclaiming" his favorite schools O-Line as the best. There is nothing wrong with that. Then HHS posters have to say, "Oh no...what are you thinking, we are the best...you take that back!" Pioneerforever; Next time say, We just graduated the second best O-Line in the state. Or we just graduated the second best running back in the state.

That doesnt take much to double it. It is a well needed and well deserved renovation. SK has had much success and they have to do everything they can to sustain it..

I have a legitimate question...Since Pike is the projected starter at the Varsity QB position, will he now start JV linebacker to regain that competitive edge??:idunno:
