Well my big scoop has died out, but to the business people that tried good job, and bear fans here's hoping that you can get a bowl game. Let's hope that Powell Co has a change of heart and gets back in the district race, it would be better for all involved.

I hear that coaches Hilton and Larkey prefer to play each other later in the year, so that might not fit into a bowl game situation. This would be a game for everyone to get excited for, if and when you can play at Bells level you know that your team is headed for some runs deep into the playoffs.

It should be Tuesday or Wednesday when we will know for sure, details need to be worked out. This may not be big news to anyone but I thought that it was a good thing that could help your program. Lets just wait and see, BTW did anyone hit the powerball, if I did then we all could have stadium with all the bells and whistles.:dancingpa

When you are rebuilding a program it makes sense to soften the schedule a bit to get games that your team can have a real shot to win or compete well in, but in this case to just throw in the towel on the district games over one game that your staff considers to be unfair isn't putting your players first. IMHO

Getting different points of view is what makes this such a great spot for sports. I am not up on OZZY so if I took your thoughts out of context, my mistake. Your passion for the programs is what needs to happen for this and other programs. Keep posting!

I am not fretting about the sports complex, I was only pointing out that one of the main reasons that it had to be put on hold was the groups that held pat on not wanting to consolidate in the first place. I also went back on some threads and lungbuster was quoted as saying that the sports complex would be done by this year, and now by next year, I hope that you are right but with the budget situations facing the state and more than likley the county the building of sports facilities would be put on the back burner. If I am wrong then we all can be happy for the kids that it effects.

I do agree on two points of your post, (1) I am optimistic for this program to have success, (2) Coach Larkey is a wise and a true leader and will make the right decisions concerning the program. Other than those two things your responce is generally what makes Harlan Co the place that it is, the I'll take mine and you take yours attitude is why we are the county that has more needs than anyother county in Kentucky. This attitude is why the building of this school was delayed and the cost went to almost double and now you are left with no athletic fields that you can call your own. Also you crack about the city folk, HHS has ben around for over eighty years and is not going anywhere it is what it is a class A school with close to 300 students in grades 9-12. Finally when you are out trying to get the local business people to support the program remember that they could have kids that go to HISD or be a supporter of the city schools and still might feel compelled to help with fund rasing or to buy ads, so your idea of your either with us or in the way might offend some people that may only want to help.

No, Powell Co will be playing Walton-Verona on the date they should be playing HC.

There could be a big announcement concerning the schools in Harlan Co in the next week, if things go well it might be one of the best things to happen for football in a very long time. It also might just send a message that things are changing for the better in our neck of the woods. I can't get into specifics for it may cause something to go wrong and that would be terrible.

I must be coming down with something, we agree on something HDE, gas prices and world peace could be just down the road.:dancingpa

Watched Strange at least six times last year and saw him twice at G-Town team camp last week, nice high school player but would struggle at many levels in the college ranks. When considering players from the 13-14 regions for college basketball remember the Cash kid that played at Rockcastle a few years back, I saw him play at the NAIA D1 level and he had a hard time getting the ball up the floor and his defense was terrible. He was one of the best the 13th had and was a coaches son and he didn't have the talent to play for U Cumberlands.

AAU rules are for age only, the KHSAA has know jurisdiction for the AAU teams.

Just curious, how many of these players do you think will play at the next level?(College) I see only 3 outside to 4. Miller, Whitaker, St. John, and maybe Zachery.

Sorry there Buster I must be getting a chip on my shoulder, I might want to heed my own words about thin skin.lol You are very correct on tools not being the only thing that matters, the coach I spoke to was very up front on his having the ability but will he see the big picture and understand what type of work goes into being a college athlete.

From one of his coaches, that Eastern contacted on possible players that MIGHT be able to play at that level. Lungbuster I talk with more high school and college coaches in a week than you have in a lifetime, so please when you think that you can dispute my words, know this I NEVER post on a player situation that I haven't spoken to his coach or one that is looking at him.:fight:
