  1. There was one freshman that came in at Linebacker to spell a Sr. Linebacker who was sick last week. And he almost had an interception. Had nothing to do with him being in the game on the score. That was just a good drive (also with 2- 15 yard penalties) and a good play that scored by Franklin County. Nothing more nothing less... Go REBELS!!!! THE SHOWDOWN IS HERE!
  2. Anyone that was at the ballgame will tell you the game was not well officiated, but calls were messed up on both sides of the ball. The young man from BC was not close to offsides on the field goal. The two calls on the plays that got called back were very blatant and obvious calls that had to be made-they were in the open field where everyone could see them. Even people that know very little about football could see them and recognize what was happening. Boyle County's sideline got a warning and a flag when questioning calls. LC did not get a penalty when the coach falls to his knees screaming at the officials feet, taking off a sweater vest and launching it 10 yards in the air onto the field. Not sure if you saw that, but... Newsflash-should be a flag. And the late personal foul call against LC was an outright dirty play. Nothing else can be said about that. The DT found BC's Left Off. Tackle and cut him behind the play trying to take out his knee deliberately. Whether these calls affected the outcome we can debate about all year, the beauty is we can find out in November if the better team truly won. Which judging by their defensive performance I am pretty sure they did (Once again, we could debate over and over). With all that being said, Coach Letton is a very very good coach and he does a great job with those young men. He runs a good program that is to be very much respected. I look forward to round two between these two good football programs in November. Should be another dandy.
  3. # 15 "WOW, THATS A HIGHSTEP!"
  4. Boyle Freshmen went up to Fairdale again this year and brought back some hardware. They played Louisville Central and won 31-20 I think? May be off a little on the score. It was a big win for the Freshman. The Boyle JV went down to Pulaski on Monday night and won big as well. The final score down there was 49-21 and I think they had two fumbles on scoring drives. Looks good for the young Rebels!
  5. Coach Brown has things headed in the right direction up at Rowan. I take the Vikings in a tough battle. Congrats to Coach Brown on his first W as a head coach as well!
  6. 7 Boyle Co. 1 Western 5 Lexington Catholic 2 Lafayette 3 GRC
  7. Hazard Ft. Campbell Lex. Catholic Central Breathitt Co.
  8. 1A - Beechwood 2A - Danville 3A - Belfry 4A - Bell County 5A - Lincoln County 6A - St. Xavier
  9. I can tell you this, if Boyle County continues to make progress everyone in 4A better watch out, they have all the tools for another special season. Rockcastle has a lot, a lot of improving to do if they want to compete. The 4A title comes down to the winner of Boyle and LexCath, and Bell in the semifinals, period. This is a 3 horse race.
  10. Maybe off on the team, but I know when Scott Russell was a Senior there was not many people in the mountains that wanted to try and stop him! He ran through Bell, Middlesboro, Pineville and pretty much anyone he played! He came back and coached at Bell and ran scout team for them and still ran through that team as a coach according to what I heard. That was back when that was acceptable of course though! That is the last big stud I remember hearing from any of those programs (Evarts, Cawood, Harlan)
  11. One thing to remember when considering this situation - the way the voting is counted and accumulated, with Smith and Turner being the two main candidates from Central / Eastern Kentucky, they split many of the votes. With Pulley being the only strong candidate from the western part of the state he racked up the votes from that area. Simple math folks. Hope Pulley works things out, but he definetely was not the better player when he played against Boyle ( I was at the game, and while Brandon played for a better team, there was no comparison as to which one was the better leader, the most valuable to their team and the better football player). Larry did a good job covering the story to make a point that he also ran a story on 4 years ago when the Mr. Football award was given. I wish all three the best of luck this season!
