I think he will step up too. His inconsistencies are due in large part to being a sophomore. He also defers alot to the older kids which he probably should. He just needs to pick his spots like he did against Ballard and he will be fine. I think too many people expect him to play like a senior. Youth will be inconsistent,thats just the way it is.

Elliott has what it takes to win it all but there is an element of luck involved in winning any State Tournament. If a few breaks go their way they could be right there to win it all. That also applies to several other teams. Good luck against East. One game at a time. Thats the only way to do it.

It's a shame that the small local papers have had to cut back on staff. I guess it's a sign of the times. We may not have them much longer. I for one would much rather read the news in the paper instead of online. I read it every morning as soon as it arrives while I have my morning coffee just like a lot of other people do. Change is not always a good thing.

All State is picked by what kind of year you have not what kind of talent some guy says you have.

I think his performance against Ballard answers the question of whether he would have scored that many points against better competition. He probably would have scored more because Ferguson would have played more than 2 or 3 quarters like he did in some games!

I would say that his inconsistency is typical of most sophomores.It will improve as he gets older.

Videos may help but its all about form and repetition. Kids will shoot 500 threes on their own but how many work on free throws on their own.

I personally think that so much emphasis is put on the three pointer that free throw shooting gets lost in the shuffle.

I agree 100%. These point totals will never be approached again especially by 3 players that played on the same team all the way up ,at least in our area that is.

Team total. The top three had 7,000 plus

The Rose HILL girls team a few years ago had around 9,000 but that was with transfers.

Todays kids, if they play pick-up ball at all don't have the likes of Steve Skaggs,Pickle Farrow,Johnny Jones,Doug and Allen Smith,Davey Wooten, Roger Gillum, and a host of others to hone your skills against. You found out real quick what worked and what did'nt. The Ashland and Russel YMCA'S had some of the best pick up ball to be found any where in the 80's and 90's. Any day of the week there was top notch competition to be found some where. You don't get better playing against other High School KIds! Sorry, I know this was off the thread.

Ethan Faulkner controlled that game with his point guard play.Ferg and the rest played great but Ballard could not get any significant pressure on the ball handlers.

Freshman Kayla Day had 26 points and 15 rebounds vs Ashland. I'm biased of course but thats pretty impressive, especially the 15 rebounds from your point guard.

Lexington Christian has a huge team. The 3 girls who scored all the points are 5'11,5'10 and 6'2. They have 6 other girls from 5'10 to 6'. The height caused Rowan alot of problems just like Conner from Ashland did.

We missed 20 free throws or the game woul've been much closer,also we are handling the press much better.I'm sure Boyd took us lightly but we missed a bunch of easy ones.
