Listed below are 4 schedules from some of the best teams in the state. The names of the teams are not posted, just their opponents. Almost everyone would know who the teams are. My hypothetical question is, if all 4 teams won all their games (which would not happen in a million years) who would the best team? Lex Cath Bryan Station Lou. The rumor that I heard was the new scoreboard is being delivered Monday 7-29. Lots of work being done in a lot of different areas, press box, drainage, painting. Thanks to the volunteers of the Bluebird faithful, the stadium should be awesome for the nationally televised opener. Lots of people behind the scenes putting in a lot of hard work, thanks to them as they are the unsung hero's of Ft. Thomas. Great people in a great city !! :thumb:

I think LN is right, this should be a thread for BG. I'm thrilled to death that the purples have a great team and program. More exposure for Ky high school football. As for the bolded, I'll let you know when I get back from that game.

Nothing childish about it and I wasn't baiting anyone. When someone tells me the schedule is "beefed up" I was expecting a schedule that would give the Purples some competition. After looking at the BG schedule , after the first 3 games, it should be a "walk in the park" and a running clock in the 2nd half for the remainder of the schedule. The Purples are ranked 24th nationally, wouldn't you expect them to be playing better teams? Your right, this thread is about BG, and that's what I'm talking about. :idunno:

The HHS Bowling Green matchup would be great, but Dale can not only coach, but he knows how to manipulate the schedule to get MAXIMUM NATIONAL EXPOSURE for the program and players. When comparing teams that do not meet on the field, the first thing I look at is the strength of schedule. If HHS plays BG in the first game of the season, IMO, ESPN doesn't come calling, and just another KY team beating another KY team no matter who wins. We all know what outsiders think about KY high school football. Congrats to both teams for being invited to the show. The hard work over the years is now paying off big time.This post is in no way knocking any other football programs in the state, as there are several teams making huge steps of advancing to the elite status.

Agreed! One thing to remember is 25% of the boys at HHS is on the team and not in the stands. I Wonder what the average percentage is among football players and the male student populations at other schools? Does 25% sound extremely high for a small school? I don't know, that's why I'm asking. I expect a bigger crowd at the T vs. H scrimmage. It should be a dandy !! :thumb:

I'm not saying I can, but I'm confident they can beat University Christian. Last year They had 31 players on their varsity roster, 3 were frosh. They lost 14 seniors to graduation, and 4 were soph. I will go out on a limb and say they don't platoon.

Will DCMS be packed with HHS haters that are just itching to see Highlands lose? How about the haters that are hoping the Birds will win while acting like they want them to lose. What about the fans that live nearby, will they remain in their recliners or will they actually get out of the AC and show support for the birds? On this very special day, will fans wear their school colors to let the HHS fans know that they have the support of other KY schools? I would like to see the game be a sellout, but I'm not sure it's going to happen, but I hope so. Should be a great game!!

With Quick and Wright being sick/ injured in the Scott County game made T look average. With that train of thought, are their replacements nearly as good as the two players for T that I mentioned. Serious question and hoping for someone in the know, can tell us who is expected to take their place? Quick, Wright and Hatcher will be missed a lot in my opinion.

Any starter that is not a senior would be a good place to find that potential D1 player.

Dale rattled off the long list of players like it was his own kids that he was talking about. Some Ft. Thomas household names, Abner and Bardo were mentioned that I recognized. Probably missed a couple more. Best team ever, sounds like a great season coming up for the Birds and I hope they stay healthy.

Highlands doesn't keep official defensive stats.

Dale has them in the right state of mind, for sure. It wasn't that long ago that the players would talk about beating Cov-Cath. My, how times have changed. I don't remember any H teams that were not focused, obviously, the last six years anyway.

It's great to hear that the players are talking about NATIONAL rankings. Aim for the stars............... Go Birds!!!!!

State titles are a tough animal to get in Ohio, for example, Colerain has one.

Oh yea, Anderson "the Spider" Silva , got knocked out last night. He got a little too cocky. Upsets happen all the time in the sports world.

Great post!! Trinity was the best team on paper, but , the games are played on the field. Florida boy your post is nothing but excuses. The depth that T has should not have been a problem. As far as who scored TD's, O,D, special teams, it doesn't matter, a TD is a TD. You say SC was overmatched, yea on paper they were, but during the STATE GAME they didn't play like it. As far as Travis Wright not having a good game, not hitting open receivers, it happens to the best of them my friend. After all, it's HIGH SCHOOL football. This state game could have a huge impact on this years SC team. Like they say in all sports, "let em hang around long enough................."
