Lets hear from a fan of each team, give us your scouting report on your team. Bellevue: Contrary to popular belief Bellevue season will not live or die with Hunter Jones. He will do his part. That's a given. The Tigers will go as far as their pitching will take them this year. They have reliable starting pitching in Scott and Piper but after that they are unproven. They will have good team speed and a lot of kids whom have always played on winning teams. These kids know how to win, which has been in short supply among the upper class men at Bellevue. The middle will be very solid with returners at short (Hunter Jones), second (David Combs), and Center (Thomas Barrett). The infield corners will be filled with some familiar faces but inexperienced at the positions. Ricky Buckler will compete for the third base job with Jim Scott, Billy Snider and others. With Tony Piper, Snider, Josh McIntyre and others competing at first base. Catching duties will fall to Alex Hegge, Travis Lyvers, and Shaun Kersey. The outfield corners will be filled with a combination of Scott, Lyvers, Travis Reeves, and Chad Thompson. All in all this will be the most experienced team Bellevue has fielded in quite some time. Hopefully it translates to wins.:dancingpa:dancingpa

Is he playing? Last I heard he was not.

Do any teams going out of town for spring break have problems with their school as far as title 9 compliance? Our team has a fundraiser and can get the money but we were told we couldn't go because the girls didn't have the money to go. Is it not true that title 9 says they must be given the same opportunity. Therefor could they not raise the money and go if they wanted? Hence equal opportunity? If someone knows more on the subject I would like to know how it works?

IMO BB wont surprise anyone because everyone knows they will have a good team. Top 5 might be pushing it.

If this is your reasoning then the State Championships all the small schools have won over the years in football ect. are meaningless? I for one as a past small school player can tell you the experiences of playing for a state championship all be it a class "A" state championship will stay with me for the rest of my life.

I can understand your reasoning. But what would keep the elite small schools from playing a schedule that would expose them to the better schools? I'm not saying that this would be the best scenario for every kid, I just think more kids would benefit from classification than would be hurt by it. Some schools that struggle to field teams would benefit from the idea of a playing field of equal competition, by equal I'm strictly talking about numbers. Speaking in general if I have 4 good players in a school of 100 I'll have 40 in a school of 1000. I don't think this issue is anywhere close to the Public/Private issue. Most people realize that the number of athletics you have to choose from will directly impact how good a team you have most of the time. Don't even want to get into the Public/Private issue which is more of a recruiting issue in my opinion.

Why just 2 - 3 classes? Just curious. I probably agree. I think football has become too watered down with the 6 classes.

I would be in favor of classification in Baseball. I think it would help some of the smaller schools attract athletics to come out and play baseball. Just a realistic chance to compete for a championship every year would be exciting for the kids. This could be a shot in the arm for schools like Dayton whom I know have some good baseball players who don't even come out for the team because they don't think they can win it all. These kids don't believe in the moral victories of competing locally. They want a realistic chance of saying we were state champions.

Which players don't match up well? Give me what you think the match ups will be.

I think Highlands is definitely top 10. They have some great Young talent returning. Led by Liggett and Rizzo. Rizzo could be a good #3 or #4 pitcher if he gets a few lessons. His potential if very high, he is one of the most coachable kids I've seen. They are probably counting on Sanolia to be their #1 who will follow him?

HHS has made an excellent choice in their new coach. I'm sure he will bring much success for the baseball program. I know spring break has been a big issue for players on the baseball team, just curious what was the compromise?

Look for the Meyer and Parr kids to step up and be big contributors to the NCC program this year. Must be nice to have such talent waiting in the wings.

Tomas Barrett of Bellevue can play the outfield with anybody. Not a power hitter but a pretty good lead off man when his bat gets hot. Look for big things from this kid this year.

Is Bellevue that bad? Or is Williamstown good?:confused:

I don't have any teams in mind for them to play. I would leave that up to the coaches to decide which teams are of their talent leavel or maybe just a little above. I do think they should replace Bracken and possibly Paris. On the other end I don't think they should play NCC any more. A blowout game either way doesn't do either team any good. Bracken has been a good team to play in the rebuilding years but I think Bellevue is past the rebuilding stage now. Not saying they're back to the days of old yet but they are making strides to get there. Paris may be OK to keep on the schedule I don't really know what they have coming up. As far as NCC I just don't see us competing with them year in and year out. It's kind of disheartening when you play them and see Bellevue kids playing for them. A one square mile school district just can't compete with open enrollment. All the respect in the world for NCC but it doesn't do our kids any good to go out and get beat by 40 or 50 year after year. All that being said I think to this point they played the schedule they had to play the last couple of years to keep interest up in football and to insure a chance at a winning season. They are doing a good job of building the program back to what it once was. Steady progress is being made and maybe a little upgrade in competition is what the next step is.

I didn't feel as if I for one was making excuses for them but stating the way I saw the first game. I obviously was wrong. Gallatin is a much better team than was given credit for. Hats off to their kids they never got tired although they basically played 12 to 14 kids. Their coaches did a great job in preparing the kids. Best of luck to the Wildcats the rest of the way. Tigers time to start working for next year. Eta Rho I agree a tougher schedule may have benefited them this year.

When comparing apples to apples no they were not overrated. When comparing to larger schools or schools with open enrollment then maybe. Didn't feel like they got better as the year went on. So maybe they weren't overrated in the beginning of the year. But by not improving by the end of the year maybe they were.

devils09, were on the opposite ends of the spectrum. As a Bellevue guy I would like to see the Devils win tonight. How ever I think you are correct in saying the Tigers will have some redemption tonight for a poorly played game two weeks ago.
