Heard Jay Cobb was to be announced this week. Anyone else hearing similar? What about him already having taken a job this spring and now leaving before he coached a game?
Something does stink about it. Are the 40 best players from Louisville really as good as the 40 best from across the state? Plus, there is no possible way for the state team to practice and prepare for this game. Somebody really dropped the ball on this one...
I agree 100% that everyone must start somewhere. I just don't think you want your first year head coach being a first year teacher. If he's just now starting classes, that means he's going to have to continue taking classes. That's a lot going on at one time for anyone.
I just don't see how this guy was the right fit for Bellevue. Don't you want your coach to be able to teach as well? He has no track record of that. And his best college experience is at the NAIA level with no coordinator experience. How does he fit into the culture in the building with the other teachers? Just seems puzzling to me...
I don't know why it wasn't done back then. I'm no where near close to that process. I don't know why they chose now to do it. It is, however, the best time to play the game so the kids can be seen by college coaches.
Almost every state has their All-Star immediately following the season. It's just taken Kentucky this long to get on board. It'll be a big issue with a lot of basketball coaches though because those who participate will have to practice (football) during that week and miss a lot of basketball practice.
Hardly. When do college coaches come out and get a jump start on recruiting...Spring. When can you get a lot of your offense and defense installed so you don't have to do it in the summer...Spring. When can you evaluate your returning players that don't play another sport and move forward with your plans for the season...Spring. Those two weeks of practice are critical for a lot of schools as they move into their summer programs.
Football also makes more money than all other sports put together at most schools, so forgive us if we don't like to deal with all of the red tape we have to wade through in order to do our jobs right.
Apparently, he told them the entire time he wanted it and was coming. Then after he was approved last night at site base, sent an e-mail this morning saying he was staying.
