  1. Maybe I should have been more clear. I never said throw it 90% of the time...nobody does that. I'm saying you have to spread it out to be successful. Two of the teams mentioned above are spread type teams, Boyle and Highlands. You don't have to pass to spread the field. It's a lot easier to run against 5 or 6 in the box vs. 7 or 8. To win running wishbone and power I you have to be better than the other team. Spreading the field helps you maximize your potential and evens the playing field.
  2. Yeah, 10 years ago. Times have changed. The two teams in the super bowl were spread teams. You can't line up and pound people into submission any more and win championships. The game has evolved.
  3. Really. The only team that won state last year that didn't run some kind of spread was St. X, and the team they beat in the finals was a spread team. I don't think that's an accurate statement.
  4. And they won a state title and got to a state semi-final in those two years.
  5. I guess they don't think so if they turned him down twice. Obviously, the last time was a bad move.
  6. The competition is different, but the biggest difference is the population size that the schools have to pull players from. You tend to field a better team when you pull from 2000 instead of 400. That being said, LCA would still beat a lot of 6A teams, which speaks for the quality of their program.
  7. I'd be willing to bet LCA would've beaten Dunbar the last few years. I wouldn't knock their accomplishments.
  8. Why hire a guy from Henderson? What have they done to speak of?
  9. When is an announcement going to be officially made as to who the new head coach is?
  10. You put their highlights in chapters. You can fit up to 12 on a DVD (using our system). We don't send it out for all the seniors, just the ones that are capable of playing college along with our rising juniors and other underclassman. We had about 12 kids that fit that profile this year. It costs about $2.50 to mail out a package with a DVD in it. It comes to about $500. The booster club picks up the tab.
  11. Really...every coach should send out film. How else is a college supposed to find out about their players? We send out film to over 200 colleges. Can all of our kids play there...no. But that's not our decision to make. We get the film in the hands of the college coaches and let them make the decisions. I can't fathom not sending out film. Why would you coach if you don't want to help you players go to college?
  12. Yes...the head coach sent out an e-mail earlier today saying he had resigned.
  13. They might, but most good high school coaches know how to do the same. It's not hard to track player highlights and make sure they get put in the right peoples hands. I know there are some coaches that don't do that, but hopefully those guys are few and far between.
  14. I'm pretty sure it's one of the freshman coaches that will probably be asked to stay around.
  15. Because Beechwood won on a bad call by the official. They do have the rings, no doubt about that. But they owe that to an inadvertent whistle...not what they did on the field.
  16. I'd say the records aren't held by 1A player for a few reason. First, by sheer numbers your elite players are going to come from larger populated areas. Secondly, if they don't, a lot of parents move them to bigger schools to get more exposure than they'd get at a smaller school. Third, most 1A teams don't as successfully execute a great offensive scheme like LCA. If he'd played for a team that ran the wishbone, wing-t, or just lined up in the I and gave it to him every play, he wouldn't have been as successful. Since LCA spreads the field and is also a threat to pass, it makes him that much more dangerous and increases his chances of success against lesser opponents. Just my opinion. He had a great career. I'm sure he'll enjoy looking at his name atop some of those categories for a long time.
  17. What's the story on him leaving? Is it his choice or is he being forced out?
  18. I wonder when the two new school will begin looking for coaches?
  19. It's not that hard. Each coach on defense gets his kids tackles, while one offensive coach compiles the offensive stats. They give those to the coach who compiles everything and they plug it in a spreadsheet. Or give it to a parent that's wants to help out and let it be their job. There are many ways to get it done.
  20. ...or Campbellsville just made plays on defense. Hats off to the eagles and their D. They look like they could make a deep run in the Class A playoffs.
