This list actually doesn't look too bad. The only changes I'd make: Holmes #3 J'town #5 Franklin County #8 Corbin #10 Lexcath #12 Mason County #14

Hope you're right. Pittman struggled the first go around and didn't seem very interested. He has gotten MUCH better with controlling his emotions since then though, and honestly I don't think I've seen him say one word to an opposing team's player since the Dixie game when he got T'd up. If he stays focused, I agree HC will have no answer for him.

Not that big of a surprise...Holmes hasn't sent in any of their stats either, along with a lot of other teams..

Ricardo Johnson is hands down the best player in nky....and yes that includes Pittman as well. Ricardo has done more than Mcfarland to date, leading Holmes to 7 wins over top 25 teams, including the current #1 team in the state, Scott Co. Mcfarland and Boone have only beaten one top 25 team, and while it was Holmes, it's tough for COACHES to put Mcfarland ahead of RJ considering all he's accomplished this year. As good of a year Boone has had, Holmes has had an even better year. Boone has a lot more talent surrounding Mcfarland than you think though.

A lot of it has to do with the success of Flanigan AND his team. If it were simply a stat based award, Ricardo Johnson wouldn't have won the D1 POY either since Pittman averages more points than him and is the leading D1 scorer in NKY. Both Ricardo and Flanigan are what take their teams to that next level though, which is the reason for their recognition as being the best player in their division. Again, I see all of these awards as being well deserved by those mentioned.

On a side note, this is the third year in a row that Holmes has had the D1 POY and defensive POY: 08/09- Ricardo Johnson 07/08- Arrez Henderson 06/07- Austin Hill

Hence Shelby Valley and Elliott Co being ranked low and Scott Co, Holmes, Eastern, Ballard, and J'town being in the top 5.

I agree with both of you. AP seems to be the most consistent with BGP a close second. :thumb:

While I agree Trey Beuttel or Brian Romes of Beechwood should have gotten the award for POY in DIII, I can see the argument for Joe Flannigan. Not only is he second in nky in points scored with over 500 on the year, but he also led his team to the State All "A" tournament. IMO all of the awards were well deserved.

I have a feeling Coach Henley's bunch will be proving a lot of people wrong now that the post season is here. Holmes at #12 is indeed very disrespectful to them, considering their accomplishments this year. Outside of Scott Co, nobody sports a better resume than them. Again...let the games begin. I agree. Smith's size will make it tough for him to just score over top of him. He'll have to be aggressive and get position down low in order to be successful. How many did Isler and Wellbrock combine for in the first game?

That's what they did last year. Henderson got D1 POY and NKY Coaches POY but Sorrell got 9th region POY.

I agree. In order for CCH to win, Isler and Wellbrock are both going to have to be aggressive down low and go to the rim. Isler has played well as of late though, so that might be a tough match up for Smith. Should be interesting to watch.

I feel like as long as Holmes wins by 15+, there's nothing to worry about. Holy Cross worse loss to date is by 15 points. They're playing well as of late and are at home, so if Holmes can manage to win by more than 15, that tells me the Dogs are starting to play good basketball. Something that hasn't been mentioned is Arnold didn't play in the first game against HC. He should be a big addition off the bench this go around. When Pittman went out in foul trouble in the first game, Slusher had to come in....no slight to Willie, but there's a big gap between Arnold and Slusher.

Holy Cross is going to score right around 40, regardless. If they score more than 50, then I'd be a little worried.

I noticed the same thing...just goes to show his rankings are an absolute joke and hold very little credibility. Beechwood has just 4 losses and have beaten both Covcath and Holy Cross but he has both ranked ahead of them. :confused: Also, Holmes at #12 is flat out comical. If there's 11 teams in KY better than Holmes, I'm interested in seeing all of those teams. No way Lexcath, Corbin, Warren Central, Shelby Valley, Mason Co, Ballard, or J'town should be ranked ahead of them. Boone Co, Elliott Co, Scott Co, and Eastern are the only teams who have a legit argument at being ranked ahead of Holmes. Post season is here though..let the games begin.

I think there's usually more than one POY. Pretty sure there's a POY for each division, a coaches POY, and then a 9th region POY that is recognized at Rupp.

Probably because Mcclendon plays on a much better team and doesn't see the floor at the varsity level. Holmes doesn't have to rely on 7th and 8th graders to fill out their rotation. If Mcclendon were at Dixie, he'd be seeing just as much varsity time as Hatton.
