Saw this on Ryan Ernst Blog. Anybody have more information on who else might be playing? This is a really worthwhile event hope they have a great turnout for this. If your team is out of football contention, or if you’re just itching for basketball season to get started, here’s a date to mark on your calendar: Nov. 21. That’s the day of the Kelsey Sorrell Memorial Basketball Tournament at Simon Kenton. The slate of scrimmages will end with defending state champion Holmes against George Rogers Clark. Both teams should be ranked in the top 10 in the state and both feature some pretty talented players: Ricardo Johnson, Elijah Pittman and Jeremiah Johnson for Holmes and Robbie Stenzel and Vinny Zollo for Clark.

Sounds like a long year for the Juggs but hopefully if the young players can improve they will be able to get back to the region tournament in the next few years. Especially with them playing in the 34th District. Good luck to them this year.

ColonelCrazy I guess we will see how St.Henry is early in the year as they play the Colonels the first week of the season.

Does St. Henry have any scrimmages coming up? It would be interesting to hear how Barnett and Carroll perform and see how much that maybe Anderson, Bessler and Hils have improved over the summer. Sounds like a typical St. Henry team of late very well coached that will be fast and get after you on defense.

Congratulations to Coach Faust. Stihl thanks for the post on the Crusaders. had to chuckle a little when you called 6'3 the big man. I read some good posts that Barnett had a good summer and at 6'3 is Carroll their tallest player?

I heard some good things about Dayton maybe they could be a wildcard to put in the mix this year.

Who did Villa draw in the first round of the all A?

Coach Faust will have this team ready and this group will probably surprise some people as usual. But they have a tough draw in the Class the A in Newport to get out of the first round there. Also I agree how will they replace Speed and even Zumdick, but the one that I think was a key player who came out of nowwhere was Volz on last years team. You have the players metioned above who got time last year but my question who is going to be St. Henrys unknown player that comes out of nowwhere and makes this team better?

DIII yes but will not finish higher than third in the 34th District behind St. Henry and Dixie this year.

Will Simon Kenton be doing the scrimages like last year for the Kelsey Sorrell scholarship fund. Great event last year for a very worh while cause.

A list is a list at this time of year. Nice to debate over but come February lets see how the list stacks up, and maybe we will be talking about some players that did not make this first list. There is alot of talent in the 9th this year. Good luck to each player

Newport principal Scott Draud confirmed the ruling today. Foster, a senior, averaged 4.4 points per game for the Bulldogs. He scored a season-high 16 in an upset of Aiken. Alphonso Upshaw, a junior who also has transferred to Newport, is in the process of applying for a eligibility waiver from the KHSAA, Draud said via e-mail. Upshaw averaged 11.6 points per game last year at Clark Montessori. Newport returns most of its key players from a 16-11 team. St. Henry has good coaching, but this year they will be lacking in alot of areas it seems do they make it out the 34th District then this year?

Do they have any height this year ?
