  1. I agree with your post. The odds are in favor of a BC/Ryle rematch, but I'll stick with my gut that it won't happen as I posted last week. Both of the top teams have shown they can have a letdown on any given night and can lose to an inferior opponent. Boone has a better chance of getting to the finals, but in a "one-n-done" there's no room for an off-night or foul trouble for any key players.
  2. Did "Tom Freppon and any other 9th region refs do this draw?"
  3. I don't think either match-up this season was called "tight". But, you are right, it's subjective and opinions fly typically based on the outcome of the game.
  4. If it's that obvious that he "has it out" for a program then yep, I agree the coach should scratch him.
  5. Shock...you should stop this my friend. The refs...come on! I watched the Ryle player beat Syd up and got away with a lot of unnecessary stuff. I'm familiar with it because I had to watch the same "junk" when my Daughter played'em and they got away with it. My Daughter would get text messages after those games apologizing for doing some of those things and why they did it. I know "exactly" where it comes from, but it's neither here nor there because it fired her up...seems to do the same for Ms Moss Bottom-line...Ryle went with the same game-plan as the last match-up and it didn't work. The problem is they were 100% committed to Plan "A", which BC was prepared for, and they had no Plan "B". The last match-up would have been completely different if Browning knocks down a couple of those early 3's, Jones would have taken her lay-ups when she penetrated instead of over-passing, and if they could have adjusted to take away the right side dribble-drive. In that game, Boone didn't have a Plan "B" and they paid the price. You are very well aware that I adore your Niece so this is by no means criticism. She comes into these big games and is so jacked-up. If she starts strong "look out", but if she doesn't she lets mistakes snowball. Her fouls were legitimate and, in fact, she got away with a couple. She is so athletic/aggressive and it's a strength, but she must learn to dial it down a few notches when she is in foul trouble because her team needs her on the floor. Too many of her fouls aren't necessary...1) if ya have 3 fouls and get beat, let the girl have the layup 2) when the girl launches a 3, don't knock her into the stands after the shot 3) if a 6' center is trotting down the floor, don't run over her...In college, it won't hurt because talent comes off the bench to replace her, but in HS, no one comes off the bench with her level of talent so she must be discipline. Patti had to put her on the floor with the fouls because the game was getting away and she hoped to stop the bleeding, but she played as if she had no fouls. In fairness, she has something that can't be taught and it will be effective, and desired, at the next level...however, in HS that aggressive play sticks out like a sore thumb and she needs to be able to adjust on the fly to the way the game is being called regardless of her style and how she wants to play. My gut is telling me there won't be a rematch. If so, I'll stick with my prediction from the beginning.
  6. Also, I may be wrong, but I'm not sure I can remember the list ever being released this early. I thought it was typically released after the region. Hopefully there aren't any hurt feeling's.
  7. Not sure what Bellevue will bring to the table, but I agree with everything you said.
  8. The vote is done my friend so cheerleading won't matter. Of course, I have my thought's on whom I would select, but I don't have a vote. Of course, it's much easier for you...you would select a tie between the top 6 Ryle players, and the mascot, for "POY"
  9. POY for D1 will be pretty interesting. It typically goes to a Senior, however, there's such a huge gap between Scott and Boone that I'm not sure "if" the success of the team comes into play when they vote. Not to mention the night & day schedules they have played.
  10. Man, I'm a little surprised at the negative. Is it the difference of Girl's basketball versus football? the FB forum feedback is completely the opposite. We lost the post, ICN6 w/Don, and now Ryan. The HS coverage is hangin' by a thread. Ryan is "one" reporter and had to go where there's the most interest. That's just business!
  11. This is a huge loss for NKY sports coverage. With the loss of the KY Post, Don Weber, and now Ryan, the exposure for the NKY HS kids is taking a major hit. Copied from the FB forum: Leatherneck: I could start this thread in any one of the high school sports forums, but since it probably will be seen by most in the football forum, I've chosen it. I just got an e mail from my friend, Ryan Ernst, notifying me that he's leaving the Enquirer. He got a job offer that he can't refuse. It was a tough decision for him, as he loves high school sports and loved covering high school sports in N. Ky. But you have to do what's best for your family and given the tough times in the newspaper industry, it was pretty much a no-brainer for him. He did a fantastic job in the roughly 10 years he covered high school sports for the Enquirer. Just a fantastic job. Super young man on top of it. As I told him on the phone a few minutes ago, on one hand I'm really happy for him and his family. On the other hand, I'm really saddened. Saddended that we won't be getting the benefits of his talents any longer; and saddened that I won't be seeing him near as much as I used to. Hopefully the Enquirer realizes the importance of getting good coverage of high school sports in N. Ky and replaces him with someone as talented and interested in high school sports. Thanks again Ryan and best wishes for your future.
  12. Did you seriously think Boone would win this game? come on Shock...really? When I read your prediction my first thought was a "win win" for ya. If BC loses "you smile" if BC wins you say "I picked it"
  13. Coming back to beat SHA is a very tough task in and of itself, but overcoming a 10pt deficit @ SHA with 2 1/2 minutes to go AND win by 5...virtually unheard of from a Moir coached team. It appears the seniors stepped up which is what needs to happen the rest of the way in big games. A Great Win!
  14. I wouldn't hesitate to take Boone in a close game "away" from SH's home floor. It's just a very tough place to play. The tightest rims and backboards I have ever seen. Plus, there will be a very long senior night before the game because they seem to recognize dang near every sport and club. The last time I was there the senior night went on for at least 45 minutes while the teams sat and waited. The funniest thing was...SHA didn't have one single senior Bball player on the roster The guards will have to keep their composure when they are pressured in order to give Boone a chance. I predicted 7pt loss because we always seemed to have to foul at the end of the game and they always have solid FT shooters.
  15. SHA by 7 Extremely tough place to play. Plus, they always seem to have their senior night against Boone which adds some emotion.
  16. I was just responding to your quote "having fun playing with peers" and no mention of representing their school, however, it still doesn't change "my" opinion. I don't see any negatives if the players stay with their respective teams and finish what they started, but oh well...no dog in the fight. We'll agree to disagree.
  17. DD...I have always respected you, but this post is just flat wrong and unbecoming of you.
  18. I tend to disagree. If players have been dedicated to the freshman team all season then they should have the opportunity to finish it out and compete in their end-of-season tourney...they've earned it. There's no real need for a player to play down and take someone's playing time unless of course the team is short-handed. This is typically a freshmen's final games of the year while the JV/V player will continue to play. As suggested, if it's truly "just" to play with their peers...then have the parents pony-up a couple of bucks and play in a rec tourney over the weekend.
  19. Good post Shock! I'm glad you said this. I thought the Ryle/Boone game sounded similar. Ryle took time off the clock against Boone and then pretty much spread the floor for 1-on-1 basketball. It was not the prettiest basketball, but a great game plan that worked. These veteran coaches will usually have a great game plan, but the players' execution is the key. If kids are going to get sick now's the time so they are healthy down the stretch. Like I said, based on what I've seen, there's a good chance that either Ryle or Boone or both teams will not be in the finals. They have to take care of business early and not let teams hang around and gain confidence. FTR...playing at Highlands, NCC, and NDA is very very tough...so the outcomes of the Ryle and Boone games at those places are not really surprising and should never be considered a set-back. There are 4-5 teams that can get hot and win 3 games in the region tourney so there won't be room for any off-nights.
  20. Oh...sorry man! I misunderstood. You know I appreciate your support and always have. You have a vested interest in my kids I know your Daughter is doing well and enjoying life
  21. It's never been a great women's program. Too many HS superstars find out quickly that it's a tough life and just not fun anymore and they "drop like flies". I've always been a fan a Majerus as well. Talk about a very plush Gig! he pretty much sticks to himself most of the time, but he and my Daughter are buddies... I just read the paper, ouch!. I guess it's time to close, or vacate, this thread and move on.
  22. It's all in fun Shock so no big deal...the time flies and it will be over before you know it! Now, don't get me wrong, I will defend the program/coaches to the bitter end and will always be ready to do battle when BC is portrayed negatively because I "know" the inside scoop. Once, or IF, Nell ever retires...then I'm done The Girl is having a very good season, however, the Bills are having a rough time. After knocking off the Hoosier's at their place, and then Evansville, we had back-to-back-to-back season ending injuries to key players and we've never recovered. But, it's still a lot of fun to be a part of
