You are correct 0n Scott beating Mason by 1 last year. The info given to me was that Scott county hit a last second shot to win the game. However, G-town did not beat Mason last year.

Nice tournament coming up at Sports of all Sorts next week. Some freshman teams of interest are Holmes, Cov Cath, Mason Co., St. X, etc.... Anyone have thoughts about the outcome?

Bluford is a sophomore, and no, he is not playing freshman. Freshman currently have 11 players and Bluford is not on the roster. His name appears on the jayvee roster. What does this have to do with the previous comments?

I will have info within 12 hours. I will give post then regardless. I seen Scott County freshman team this weekend playing at Lexington Catholic. They lost in the 1st round to Lafayette. Scott County probably was not fully loade dwith their freshman team, but I don't know.

Not to say your statement is false or misleading, but I will get correct information on a date,time, and score. Myself, I cannot recall this game unless it was in the summer. It is just hard for me to fathom, that the current group of freshman was held scoreless for a WHOLE quarter.

I thought Stephens played for Montgomery, unless he has transferred to Clark without anyone knowing. Does anyone have info on this subject?

The royal cupboard is not bare with Gilbert, Pawsat, and Setty at the freshman level. Jeris Carver has definitely stepped his game up and add the current group of 8th graders, there is definitely exciting times ahead for Mason County. This is not to say, there is not exciting times at the present moment; just a little food for thought at where the program stands.

I think you have taken me all wrong and I don't need to be reassured of anything involved with the program. I am not poking fun at Mason County, if you would read some of my other post above you would know how I feel about the Royals and their trip. For example go back and read post #15 and there is my feelings towards their trip. I know that the school and its administration and athletic director dot I's and cross T's as I believe I said that in an above post. There is questioning of how the trip was funded with Nike and all and there was an above poster that wanted to know, which by the way was the same poster that brought out the name Nike and was bringing out things that weren't factual. That is what I was poking fun of with my fundraising ideas. Gee, sorry but you took me the wrong way. If you would look at my other post you would know that. By the way I am a big time basketball fan and there was never anything I said that stated anything was illegal and uncompliant or anything else you said.

Mason County beat Bracken County tonight by a score of 67 to 29 without Setty. Mason County has some talent in the 8th grade as well (Black, Osborne, Harris, Hamm, and Walton). It should make for an interesting matchup with Lexington Catholic in years to come. They could be on the freshman team right now getting some minutes easily but are not allowed to play up.

It will be a great battle in a few years with Clark County and the rest of the region.

In response to how to fund a trip to Hawaii, if you are involved with a school who wishes to take a trip to Hawaii, I would follow these steps. Start right now, organize a car wash everyday. If you have a Betty Crocker homemaker in the family or families then corner them to bake as many goodies as possible and stand outside of a local store and have yourself a bakesale. Round up all the zero turn mowers and have a community mow off. If you have a Aunt B in the family, contact her about her famous pickles that win the county fair contest every year and have a pickle stand for fundraising. Those pickles may go over real well if Kerosene is in the mixture. Thats how we roll with it in Kentucky.:thumb:

Not surprised as well. This team is a deep team in comparison to St. Patrick teams of the past. They share the ball so well, they can knock the outside jumper down, and the Mason kid plays above 6'2 or 6'3. Owens is on a mission this season and Coach Hinson demands the same passion and respect for the game that he has out of each of his players. That is a match made in heaven for any program.

If its not a known fact, then why bring forth information about a program that is simply not true?

I am assuming teams like Mason, Clark, Montgomery, Bracken, St. Pat haven't reported stats?

The Mason County Freshman won the Lexington Catholic freshman tournament over the weekend. They defeated Bryan Station in the 1st game 57-47. Three Royals were in double figures led by Treg Setty with 20. He was followed by Jordan Gilbert with 14 and Neal Pawsat with 12. The Royals defeated Clay county in the next round 47-37. They were led in scoring by Setty with 13 followed by Gilbert with 11 and Pawsat with 9. They defeated the host school in the finals 67-51. They were in scoring by Pawsat with 20. Jeris Carver chipped in 17. Treg Setty chipped in 13 and Jordan Gilbert tallied 11 . This victory avenged an earlier defeat to the Knights in the first game of the year. The Royals now stand 6- 1 on the year.

Its been from my observations over the past few years that girls basketball games can get out of hand with how play is on the court. Three seconds in the lane is a call that is rarely used it seems like anymore. When it is called, it seems like either the game is out of reach or it wouldn't inpact a game as far as how important a possession is.

If a one game suspension is all these kids receive, then its a slap on the wrist in my opinion.

mhighfield, I understand and appreciate your clarification of how Mason County is justifying Title 9. What I don't understand with the justification of Title 9 in this matter is what is equal about one team soaking up the sun and enjoying the dream vacation to Hawaii while the other team is in the extreme nothern part of Ohio in the dead of the winter? It took 13 hours to get to Hawaii by plane and it will probably take the same amount of time for the Mason girls to travel to North Canton with all the snow that hits in between Maysville and North Canton.:lol:

There you go, a perfect scouting report, some sort of zone that forces the shot on the outside while covering up the paint should be utilized. If the press is handled, game could be interesting.

Where is it stated that shoe companies are paying? Other than what a poster stated above in a question of this, where are you receiving this information from?
