ladiesbballcoach Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 A thread dedicated to tracking what is going on in 10th Region Girls' Hoops Action. Think the Reds thread. Opening night action. GRC lost big to Lex Christian 80 to 59. Coach True is a former LC assistant coach. Hope they do something in the region this year as one 10th region assistant coach has picked GRC as the region darkhorse for 6 years running. Pendleton lost 52-45 to Ryle. Congrats to Senior Sara Scaggs who became the career leader in made 3's for the Ladycats with her first of the season. Calvary Christian pulled in the first win of the season for a 10th region girls' team with a 49-17 victory over SPCA of Ohio.
D-UP Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I also expect GRC to do very well in the 10th region this year. The 40th has been the toughest district the last couple of years, and that is not just because Montgomery is in it. Paris has been very competitive and Bourbon looks better each year under veteran coach Tony Sosby. I look for them to make some noise this year as well. Give LCA credit. Very nice team, but I expected the score to be closer.
mcpapa Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 No disgrace for Clark County to lose to Lexington Christian - all they did was win the whole enchilada last year.
otis91 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I believe it was a 1 point game at half time. LCA had a big 3rd quarter
ladiesbballcoach Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 I think we might see a new champ this year. While Montgomery is tough, bout time for another 10th region team to take the trophy. Mason has the best trio of players on one team but they need some others to step up, especially off the bench, to do the role players jobs. Mason SHOULD win it with the 3 top players they have. Montgomery could match them in talent last year. Don't think they can this year.

ladiesbballcoach Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 And don't underestimate Clark and Paris, either. While both could pull it off, none can match the talent of Mason's top 3. Montgomery could the past 2 years and was better fundamentally. That is why, IMO, they took the regional trophy. That is not true anymore. Prewitt maybe the MOST important player on their team this year and arguably the MVP of the region. But Mason's top 3 is more talented.
ladiesbballcoach Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 I hope your right :ylsuper: Definitely, I am right. I said Mason SHOULD win it. Didn't say they would.

If any of them get hurt, in foul trouble, or sick... then what? They have basically no one else, and I think that will hurt them in the long run. That's putting a lot of pressure on the 3 top players on their team, and I don't think they'll win it all this year.

I think you and most everyone else could be in for a surprise as far as Mason basically having no one else outside of the big 3.
mcpapa Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I think you and most everyone else could be in for a surprise as far as Mason basically having no one else outside of the big 3. I hope so! The main thing that has kept Mason from beating Montgomery County in the tourney at least once for the past three years has been depth.
McLegend24 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Mason SHOULD win it with the 3 top players they have. Montgomery could match them in talent last year. Don't think they can this year. I don't know about that. Montgomery is just as talented if not more than last year.
