Well, Feb. 15th has FINALLY arrived, and I was wondering how the first day went for everyone. Any big news out there from the first day of tryouts?

At the Greenup/Boyd basketball game tonight, their will be a ceremony presenting the GC baseball team with a banner honoring their 16th Region title and Sectional title last year. Hopefully, all the players from last year will be there. It should be a nice ceremony.

I pick Greenup to win in a close one. Also, as a side note, there will be a ceremony (I think at halftime) tonight presenting last year's baseball team with their banner to hang up for their tournament run. All four seniors from last year should be there. Should be a good time.

Slone is a great player, no doubt, but I can't believe UK is looking for more guards. They really need some inside players intead. I will admit, though, that I would love to see another E. Ky boy in a UK jersey!

Thanks, it's snowing pretty good here now, and my fire pager is already busy with reports of bad road conditions. So much for going to bed when I get home tonight.

Would it be possible for some of you all in the Maysville area to keep us updated on the weather situation? If I come tho the game tomorrow, I will have to take a vacation day from work. If the game is cancelled, I would love to know ahead of time so I can take the vacation day out and not waste it sitting at home.

When I was in pep band, we divided up into two seperate bands, so that all of us didn't have to travel so much. If you wanted to play all of them, you could. I don't know how many members each band has, but that could be a solution.

Is there any way to get advance tickets for the game Tuesday? There are a few of us from Greenup Co. who are planning on coming to the game, and I was wanting to make sure that we will be able to get in. Thanks.

You know, the more I sit and fume over this decision, the less it surprises me. As I stated before, I am a former "band geek" from GCHS. I cannot count how many times that the band has been mistreated over the years. My senior year, we had a new band director who met with the administration to try to get some much needed funds for new uniforms, instruments, etc. He was told by them that he needed to realize, and I quote, "Greenup has always been a cheerleading school, and would always be a cheerleading school. You just need to sit down, shut up, and take whatever leftovers we give you." Hearing that, does it surprise anyone that the administration would pull a stunt like this with districts? Maybe they are afraid that if they allow the pep bands to enter for free, that the cheerleaders might not get as much money as they are "entitled" to. Please don't take this as a shot against the cheerleaders. They are a very hardworking squad and deserve all of the acolades that they receive for their accomplishments. They have no say so in the administration's decisions. But to have people tell one group of kids that they are less important than another is just not fair. Especially since they are both trying to do the same basic job, entertain the crowd and create atmosphere for the games.

As a former basketball player and pep band member for GCHS, I think that this is one of the most ignorant decisions that the admin. has ever made.(and that is saying a lot, brothers and sisters). It is enough to make me want to change my name on here.:irked::sssh:

I will take Elliott by 8. I just have this feeling that the Lion's will surprise some people in this game.

I am reminded of the old adage "Even a blind hog can find an acorn now and then." Let's just hope the Muskies have found an Oak Grove. :thumb:

How serious is Holme's injury?

I can see Bean (Stringfellow) playing center. He has the athletecism for the position. the biggest worry I have for him is injuries. As I have said before, he seems to have the worst luck in the world at times.

On the contrary, I will venture to say that although on paper GCHS is loaded, the rest of the region will not go away without a fight. It ought to be a very entertaining year for all area teams.

I don't completely agree. If there is no expectations, other than failure, then what is the point in trying at all? It may be easier, emotionally, but since when is life easy?

I believe that these two will be allright this year. They both showed a lot of poise last year.
