The boys of Spring are making their way to the weight rooms across the state to begin their quest to Applebees' Park.

At least 6 of those teams should be back in the tournament. Shelby County is the one variable. I hope they do make it. They were a joy to watch play.

I agree. When you looked at their record going into the State tourney it looked like they would be eliminated rather quickly, but they cut thru the competition and wound up in the finals. If they had one more pitchers, they may have won state.

I think only PRP and Heath will make it back out of that group from last year. There is to many other good teams out there.

Remember, Shelby Co. has a new coach so things will be different. Better or worse who knows

Where did Shelby Co's coach from 07 go?

And who do you think will go out of Eastern Ky? I can't think of anyone in the 15th who will challenge JC, and in the 16th, the biggest problem for GCHS will be Boyd Co., and they lost quite a bit to graduation.

Does Ryle have a dominating pitcher?

Does Ryle have a dominating pitcher?

Not really. They usually win with their bats and their defense. They don't walk too many, but then again they don't strike too many out either. Last year they probably averaged 2 or 3 strikeouts a game. This year I would say Seabold, Campbell and Rieder will cruise in the mid 80's. All have good breaking balls and good control. Charlie Lovan is a good spot guy and I know they have four or five good prospects from the 9th region champion JV team.

The 15th and 16th should be wide open. JC lost 2 quality starting pitchers, and Lawrence Co. should be loaded and probably the favorite in the 15th. Greenup should be good again and probably the slight favorite in the 16th, but not overpowering. Boyd lost alot, but they are still Boyd, East Carter lost 2 starters and have all their pitching back from a team that beat Greenup twice in regular season, Raceland, Rowan and others will be decent as well. It should be interesting in both regions.

Several good points. This is why I can't wait for the season to get rolling.

He retired at the end of last season.

You guys gave him a great retirement gift. I'm sure he will always remember that team.

Alot with have to do with the regional draw. GCHS had a great draw last year. Pretty much a cupcake first game.

True, it was a good draw, but don't forget the things outside of the games that happened. One coach's house caught fire, the bus broke down, etc. A lot of people said that the winner of the Greenup-Boyd game would be the winner of the region. Ashland put up a good game in the finals, so the draw wasn't totally easy.
