Applebee's 2008

Featured Replies

True, it was a good draw, but don't forget the things outside of the games that happened. One coach's house caught fire, the bus broke down, etc. A lot of people said that the winner of the Greenup-Boyd game would be the winner of the region. Ashland put up a good game in the finals, so the draw wasn't totally easy.

The bottom bracket of last years draw had the region's 3 best teams in it. Greenup, Boyd and East was all in the bottom, that was a tough one. Fleming was the only weak team in the bottom.

And who do you think will go out of Eastern Ky? I can't think of anyone in the 15th who will challenge JC, and in the 16th, the biggest problem for GCHS will be Boyd Co., and they lost quite a bit to graduation.

What key players are coming back for Greenup this year? Do they have the pitching to carry them this year?

Several key players are coming back. Tyler Hienamen, the 16th Region MVP, will be back. Pitching shouldn't be a problem. Out of the seniors we lost, Austin Wright pitched the most. Hensley and Rowe pretty much stayed in the outfield. Bentley did pitch some, but not until late in the season. The rest of their starters will be back, such as catcher Billy Logan, Juan Staton, James Madden, Drew Skaggs (who should see some innings on the mound). Also, there are a lot of JV players who will see some time.

Middle infield returns, too...Eric Craft and Zach Stringfellow

Very important in the top of the order, too...

I think Harrison County will return to Applebee's in 2008. They pair up against the 12th Region in the Semi-State.

Very true. There are so many of them that I honestly keep forgetting some.:sssh:

How could you forget them two players. I would say they are one of the best two player on the team. Greenup should be top in the 16Th region this year.

Don't make me feel bad. The sad part is, I have been fishing with Stringfellow a few times. Him and my brother were good friends. I saw Eric's dad yesterday, too. Maybe I am just getting too old.

I personally think Greenup will be representing this area at Applebees again. East is solid and Raceland is solid and Boyd has a couple of players as good as any, but not sure the Staff can put it together there. I look for Logan to be the Coach of the Area again.

I wouldn't be surprised to see LCA back or even Tates Creek

I think there is a strong possibility that Lawrence Co. could make a show this year-

Back to the thread title. which of the 8 teams listed that were there last year will repeat?

Ryle lost a ton of players, but they are reloading. If they hit, they will repeat.

Lots of folks are mentioning Greenup Co. Anybody else?

Lawrence County has a great shot this year. They only lost one starter off a loaded team last year that lost to JC in the Regional Championship. They will be led by Timmy Hayes (UofL) and Freshman phenom Chandler Sheppard (great chance to get drafted down the road IMO). They also have several others like Jeff Cyrus and Brad Laney who have already committed to Pikeville, 6'5 Lou Michael's and Soph's like Shane Pack that started last year.

I agree 100%. Greenup is looking good all around. Pitching is solid, they're great in pitching depth. There is no problem with the pitching. Infield is going to be great for Greenup also. Do you think Stringfellow is going to be in the infield or outfield this year? Many say he might be in center. This year and many more years to come is going to be inspirational for Greenup.

I can see Bean (Stringfellow) playing center. He has the athletecism for the position. the biggest worry I have for him is injuries. As I have said before, he seems to have the worst luck in the world at times.
