AAU - The Second Season
Rainman11 replied to afi100guy's topic in AAU / Select / Club / Travel Sports
Aren't unsigned seniors allowed to play on a 17u team? I thought they were. Seems like i remember G'lawn Guyn doing that a couple of years back on Indiana Elite. But I will be the first to say I may be wrong. -
Who will be the new coach at Montgomery County?

That is a recent development, because I know as of earlier today it wasn't totally far fetched. I wasn't sure Happy would end up going, because I beleve his heart is still in the college game, but I do know him becoming the next coach was discussed by more than just the people in Mt. Sterling. -

By the way, just for those who think it takes a huge salary to draw Happy Osborne. I suspected that wouldn't necessarily be the case. I don't know what he made at Georgetown College (private institution), but I don't think it was HUGE money. And, with a little Google research knowing that all state institution salaries are public knowledge, here's what I found out. TN Technological Univ OSBORNE ROBERT ASSISTANT COACH 2 Mens Basketball $62,000 Of course, he probably also gets camp money and some additional perks that makes the total package worth more. But, either way, it's not like past history prices himself out of a high school coaches salary. I, for one, am a huge Happy Osborne fan having seen him coach many, many games at Georgetown College. I wish he would have never left there, but that's a story for another time and place. I am not sure how he would translate to the high school level, where his time with the kids will be less than the virtually no rules of a NAIA school. If nothing else, the people of Mt. Sterling and the 10th Region will be entertained watching him on the sidelines. -

Louisville Magic 10th beat KY Elite 63-56 in the finals (for some reason, MidAmerica's bracket shows IN Elite where it should have said KY Elite). KY Elite led by 5 at half, but the Magic hit shots in the second half that Elite was missing on their end. Well played game. The Magic 10th grade team I know by name were Green, Grundy, Cunningham, Hatton, Owens. Others included a guard from St. X and 2 kids that were similar size to Grundy, but I don't know there names. I was told one was from PRP and I can't remember on the other one. The Magic 11th grade team was missing several kids. Russell was still playing with Monteverde in the ESPN tournament. Snider was seen at the gym Sunday, but didn't play all weekend (don't know why). Willis was in New Orleans playing in an all star game. I had also been told at various times (don't know the validity) that Quick, Whitman and Avare were also playing Magic 11th, but none of them were there this weekend. -

I thought it was a terribly played game. I agree the last few seconds We're probably the most exciting part of the tournament, but it was a poorly played game. -

Feel bad for Woodford. Great run simply ran into a team on a mission. Nobody in the 11th was beating Sxott County tonight. Congrats to Woodford on a great season. Good luck to Sxott County in Rupp. -

Mason County 62 Montgomery County 57

So, Mason County is the favorite 2 out of every 4 years by the home court thought? So, I guess O'Hearn was in over his head last year when Clark County won. From what I was told, Wise's resume includes over 200 wins, two Final 4 appearances while coaching in Florida and 21 wins last year at Frankfort -- a school that won 23 combined the 3 years before that. I am guessing you must know Coach Wise and have a personal vendetta against him or know someone you felt should have gotten the job when Griesser left. Keep in mind, he took over a team that was 15-15 last year and 47-43 over the last 3 years. I understand some people felt Montgomery was the favorite going into the season, but those same people had Pendleton No. 2 and Clark 6 or 7. Oops, it was obviously all wrong this year. -
Woodford County/Scott County Predictions
Rainman11 replied to PurplePride92's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Woodford County may very well win the game, but I don't think it will be due to overconfidence of Scott County. It's the region final, so I wouldn't think that would be an issue. I am one that is not surprised Woodford County is in the final, but I think Scott County will win a 3rd time. -
I don't believe the administrators had any control over the weather Friday night.

Woodford County 60 Madison Central 55
Rainman11 replied to colonelfan2001's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Nobody is debating whether it should be done. The fact is that it is done. And Madison Central should have participated. The player that did stay around to shake hands was #20 (I think that is O'Brien). -
Montgomery-Mason at 5, Clark-Campbell 6:30.

I couldn't agree more. They didn't even shake hands. And yes I know Woodford players ran to their student section to celebrate before going to handshake line, but they did same thing against Catholic and Cathilic waited for them to shake hands. I thought it was classless. -
Scott County wins easily to advance to finals against Woodford County Tuesday night.
