In regards to the non-military public that work on or near a base, their children and other relatives normally are not part of the school system on post. They are more than likely supporting the schools in the civilian communities where their children and families/friends are playing ball. One thing that also needs to be mentioned is that in a normal community you have alumni of the school that also support the programs, whereas in the military schools, those alumni are usually not around the post to support the school's programs.

How strange, that is almost the exact opposite. FC is scoring 51 a game and allowing about 8. I am going to go with the stats on this one, but think the margin might be greater. FC 51 TCC 7

I know it is to easy to support our guys, but I am actually trying to look for stuff on some of the other candidates. I want to see what they can do on both sides of the ball. I know this is not a requirement, but IMO the best football player would most likely be someone that does more than just one position, or at least brings more than one dimension to the game in some way. This is why I always ask for defensive stats as well. I would also like to see how many quarters these young men are playing too, it helps put the stats into perspective, as does the qualitiy of teams that they are playing. Until I can see something to change my mind, I will be rooting for Antonio, just as everyone else will be going for their guy until they have a reason to look at someone else.

I do not get out of WKY much, but hear is my best guess on how I would rank them. 1) Ft Campbell 2) Corbin 3) Prestonsburg 4) NCC 5) Desales 6) Monroe Co 7) Murray 8) Green Co I think NCC is better than the numbers they have been getting. A lot of losses, but against much larger and decent teams.

I do agree it would have an impact to not call them forfeits, but at the same time it may not have a huge impact on playoffs (other than seeding) with nearly all of the teams going into the playoffs in the first place. If that did happen, it could make the first round a little interesting, imagine having a number 4 beat a number 1 on a regular basis because the #4 team had to forfeit district games, even though they were a better team.

Fort Campbell is open this week and I still got 1 1/2 hours beofre any other games around here kick off.

I never said they have to play on both sides of the ball, but if they are really good on both sides of the ball or are not one dimensional, it gives credit to them as the best football player in the state. Just because someone is the best QB or RB, does not make them the best football player in KHSAA. IMO, if they are the best football player, they can do more than one thing, not just throw or run.

I agree. It would be so easy for them to say, 'You will report your stats to us no later than the Wednesday following the game'. Or make it the responsibility of the winning team to report stats for the game (unless it is an out of state game, which the school must report the states).

As I mentioned in a previous post, the award should go to the best all around football player. Regardless of how good someone is at a particular position, does not make them the best all around football player, including those on your list. It seems that most of the players are QBs and RBs. I donot have a problem with those selections, but that does not mean they are the best all around player in the state. It is obvious that Rees plays defense as well, how well does he do in that aspect. If he does well he may very well be the next Mr. Football, if he is horrible at it (which I doubt) then maybe he is not the best all around football player and does not deserve the honor of being named as such.

Don't get me wrong, the videos were good as was the playing of Rees. It was very nice of you to show that you had found what someone else was asking about. I only mentioned the defense part because a few of the plays showed him on defense, so I assume he is playing on it as well. Although I do not have a vote in Mr. Football, I would like to think that it goes to the best all-around football player and made the comment that the videos only really showed one aspect of Rees. My UNOFFICIAL vote goes to Antonio because I support FC and its players and I think he has a good chance. If I was able to see some fo these other people and saw what they could do, I might agree that the vote belongs to someone else. It just seems that to many people go for a singel position player, rather than the best all around player. A few years back, when Micah Johnson was selected, some say it was because of his offense, say say his defensive skills. I would like to believe it was because he was good on both sides of the ball, the best ALL-AROUND player. Thanks again for putting up the videos, they were good to watch and Rees is surely a great player.

I see. IMO, I think it is wierd that schools would try to slect an easier team for the homecoming game, they are realted but unrelated. No need for the team to have an easier team to increase the odds that homecoming will be successful. The homecoming events being successful has nothing to do with the game being successful.

Saw the videos of Rees and would have to put him behind Antonio. They did show that he could play defense (at least a down or two), but the video still just showed him as a runningback. While he might be hte best RB in the state, I do not think these videos show that he is the best all around football player in the state.

Fort Campbell's last two home games are typically homecoming and senior night. I do not think that any particular teams are set up for them to play on either of these nights.

I do not understand why Lafayette was the only choice here. Homecoming could have been played on at a district game.

I do not think that I am paranoid. As far as the polls go, I do not get out of the area for to many games, but if I voted for T or X as the #1 team in 6A, I almost always would be right or at least close to the right answer. I have no idea how much press or attention Antonio or Fort Campbell gets outside of this area, other than there name being in the 2A polls once a week. Some of the questions I posed were not directly related to Antonio, but to Mr. Football in general. Like I said, a boring day at home and not much to do, so I am just sitting here thinking of all kinds of things.

I know this is not the same as a normal city, but if you group in Fort Campbell with Clarksville, TN (since most of the base is in TN) then the population for the area would be about 164,000. This makes it about 1/3 the size of Louisville, almost ½ the size of Lexington and twice as big as Owensboro and Bowling Green. I mention this in support of Antonio Andrews as Mr. Football. Antonio leads the Clarksville area schools, much larger in size except for one or two) in both rushing and passing yardage, granted not many of these schools are powerhouses in TN, but there are a couple of good teams. Is Antonio not getting the press that some others are getting because he is from a smaller school, or because of the physical location of Fort Campbell? Fort Campbell usually gets decent press from Clarksville, but I do not think it is as much if it was actually in the city itself. With this information, a couple of questions: 1. Do any of these factors play into his ability to get selected as Mr. Football? After all Micah Johnson did get selected a few years ago. 2. Is it more of a strength of schedule issue that may prevent him from being selected. 3. If Fort Campbell was located in a city with a similar population to that of Clarksville, but entirely in Kentucky, would that make a difference? 4. How much does the size of the school really play in the selection of Mr. Football? 5. Do you think that the Mr. Football is awarded to the best overall football player, or is it typically rewarding the best offensive player, who may get some defensive stats to go with it? BTW, I am bored today at home, so I just may rambling on, so do not beat me up to much.

Good article, but I still think that Antonio Andrews should be Mr. Football, the best all around football player in the state.

NCC has been to the finals for four years in a row, winning twice and runner-up twice. The program seems to be a soldi one and I think that they could surprise a lot of teams if somone is looking past them because of their record. On the flip side, Anytime a program has 'four' years of that much success, I begin to wonder if it was a graduating class that helped out so much. Many times it is hte program that is successful over he long term, but every now and then I see one that was successful because of the graduating class - 4 good years and then rebuilding for a few. And you can see this in other things other than football too.

I was just looking at NCCs numbers, even though they are losing to most of much larger schools, they do seem to be putting up some points against them. At the same time, I did not look to really see how good any of these larger school were.
