I have to disagree with you here. Top 3, I could agree with, it can be argued that the top 6 are OK, but I can't see Hazard above Beechwood or Frankfort for that matter. The bottom four I don't agree with, but I would say there are about 8 teams that could be there.

Just not how I see it.

The “out of state games don’t count” poll strikes again.

Why is Highlands #3 at 6-0 when they beat Cincy St X and both 1 and 2 were beat by X? :idunno:

The LIT rankings don't take into account opponents from out of state.

It's all about the math. Computers can't be bothered with facts...

Seriously, by the end of the year, Litkenhous is usually pretty much on-target. Until then, it's simply something to look at and talk about.

Not picking on you, but that is what everyone always says. What is the use to have the poll, if you have to wait until the end of the year?

How much more difficult would it be to incorporate out-of-state games into the formula? Teams with success vs. OOS schools (Highlands, Ashland, Fort Campbell, etc.) get short shrift for several weeks, it seems like.

Although rankings are really just something to talk about, IMHO.

PS - say "short shrift" five times fast.

I think it's just to give people something to talk about. Really, what's the purpose of ANY poll?? (unless you're the BCS) Nobody in HS sports wins anything because the AP, Litkenhous - or even the Bluegrasspreps - poll designates them as the best.

Still, in fairness to the Litkenhous, I wouldn't slam it too much now. It's pretty reasonable at this stage, really. Yes, Highlands is #3, and I think most would put them at #1, but it's not like Litkenhous ranks them #10 or #15. Put 100 people in a room together, and I'll bet we could find several who believe St. X is #1 and Trinity #2... It's not as if it's really unreasonably way off.

I still like the BGP poll best, though. Has more rationality to the process.

No
