I can't argue with your memory, but I really doubt E.J. Fields was ready to quit. Last game of your high school football career, in the state semi-finals, and you want to get out of the game? Frankfort was only down by 10 until the 4th quarter. Who wants to quit in that game? So glad we've got inter-district play back! Been wanting to see Dayton for a while.

Here's more food for thought. Don't all teams make it to the playoffs in other sports, like Basketball and Soccer (even when their records are terrible)? I guess a counter argument to that would be to say that serious injuries happen much less often because of the nature of the contact in those sports. Those other sports' setups seem to take the mentality of "week 1 takes care of everything."

It happens so often that while one team is getting thumped, they still somehow manage to get a safety.

If the game is as heated as this great debate thread is, then it should be a good one!

Can't make a judgment about Dayton as I have not seen them, but looking at numbers, I would be inclined to think that Frankfort should be able to win this one by 3 TDs. Although anything can happen in the playoffs, and I'm sure Dayton will come out fighting til the end. However, I wouldn't gameplan on just stopping Quan Weaver. He's a good player, but the Frankfort TEAM is good. Line play could be a huge factor. Frankfort's line is inexperienced, but I'm sure will work hard. I'll take: Frankfort 42 Dayton 24

Thriller of a game. Lived up to the billing. Many points could be made but here's a key one. Special teams did play a big factor. Danville didn't allow any big kick returns, but they had 3 extra-point attempts blocked and failed a two-point conversion. Take those 4 PATs and give them to Danville and it's a tie game. But that's just hindsight. Cograts to Frankfort. Hold your heads up high, Ads. You will be primed and ready to go come playoff time. Can we officially call this a rivalry of sorts, or does this game mean a lot more to Frankfort than it does to Danville? And will this game be played for another two years, Coach?

It would have been a nice win for Frankfort, but another Frankfort TD would have required a two-point conversion to tie as well. We didn't have a reliable PAT kicker that year so we went for 2 almost exclusively. It was definitely an improvement over the year before. Losing 22-14 to the eventual state runner-up after losing 68-8 to the eventual state champion the year before. That team believed they could win and came close. Danville may not have been as focused having walloped the Panthers the year before. I could be wrong, but I think the Panthers held Kelvin Turner to under 100 yards in that '04 game too. Someone please correct me if they remember differently.

I think 4 of the last 5 years have been pretty even/competitive. I say that because in 2005, the 33-0 drubbing Frankfort got at Admiral Stadium was a completely one-sided game. I don't believe Frankfort had more than 2 or 3 first downs the whole game that didn't come from penalties. Danville's defense was DOMINANT. A Danville linebacker leveled the Frankfort running back on the first play from scrimmage for no gain or a loss and that set the tone and can be used to describe the game in a nutshell. I'll call the 2006 games as competitive because they traded games. But they were pretty convincing wins for each team respectively. 2007 - Frankfort wins 20-19 2006 - Frankfort wins 33-13 / Danville wins 35-6 2005 - Danville wins 33-0 2004 - Danville wins 22-14
