I agree, it's GC and Russell. Russell has always called us a hillbilly, country school. So every time we verse Russell we get all decked up in our bibs, boots, girls in pig tails with freckles, and the most important thing our Green, Black, and Gold. Then you've got Russell dressed like preps. I would say the GC/Russell games are the biggest with the most fans from both sides.

My boys are younger but both like to play any sport available. The rule in our home is: (because there's always a fee) once the money's paid and you start playing then you're not quitting. We make them decide before hand. They know the rule and it's never been an issue. I feel if this rule is always enforced, when they get to high school quitting won't be an issue. The bible says to "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6. I believe this means in all aspects of life. You have to start when they're young.

Joke or no joke, it was at the expense of GC, and it still hurts our boys all the same.

I agree, and things will never change as long as people keep running from the problems instead of binding together to fix them. We teach our kids that there is no "I" in team, yet they see the parents not practicing what they preach. I for one, want my kids to be a part of the GC heritage, as the rest of their family was. It's going to take each of us to do our part to get things turned around.

I agree, the Admin. has been the biggest let down. This is why GC kids need all the positive comments and support we can give. You say someone needs to take a stand, have you tried being that someone?

Taken Wrong!!! I wasn't referring to scores, I was referring to the number of athletes to compete against. As of lately, I agree, " R " has had some success against our bigger schools. Check your records from the past 10 years head to head with GC in: Basketball, Baseball, Football, Cheer-leading, Dance, Band, Golf, Tennis and anything else you can find. Maybe you need to take another look at the academic side of things as well.

Now you know how our GC kids feel about you all on here joking about our situation. I'm not trying to be mean, just making a point.

If you're going to make the trip to a school with an " R ", why not go a few extra miles to a good school with an " R "!!!! :fire: If you're afraid your kids can't excel or aren't good enough to be a starter in a big, class 4A, school, then maybe you should go to a smaller school where there is less competition. Sounds like you're a level headed person. GC would like to have you there to help fix the problem, but if you choose not to, We wish you the best of luck!!!

First, I want to specify that I am not siding with either party. I know first hand the situation and both, Coach Leach and the player, were in the wrong. But I also know first hand about working in schools, and no matter what a player/student says, the coach/teacher can not respond the way Coach Leach did. It's just not acceptable, as it should not be acceptable for a player to disrespect the coach, either. I thinks it's a terrible situation for the GC players to have to go through two years in a row. Good luck to the GC boys and hopefully to a fresh start. Just put all the negative comments behind you and work hard (as a team), and things can only get better. And to the player involved in the incident, I think you're a darn good athlete and a lot of your teammates kind of look up to you. So, you keep up the hard work, try to always set a good example, and things will turn around for you and the team. Again, GOOD LUCK GC!!!

GC's young with a new style of play. We'll take our lumps this year through maybe mid-season next year, then GC will be dishing out a few lumps of their own.:fight: The Muskies have some very, very, very, talented boys coming up. :ylsuper:

I for one am in no way praising Mike Sammons for the boys' performance last night. They gave heart and soul to that game and they deserve all the credit. Boys like ours are what make a great football team. You know, I know, and everyone knows that our boys have the biggest heart and spirit of any football team in our area. I believe you should give credit where credit is do. With that being said, I give credit to Sammons for stepping up and making the right changes that brought on the chain of events these past couple of weeks. Yes, there were some bad things that happened do to the plays that were called last night, but if the coach knew the outcome of every play then we would never have lost a game. Also, hats off to Craft for some outstanding plays. Yates, that was an awesome fumble recovery, you are the man!!!! The way you've overcome your injury is a miracle in itself. Good luck in your football career! For all the others I didn't mention, you guys did an awesome job as well. Way to go GC Team and Coaches!!! You've made all of us in Greenup Co. proud to be a part of GCHS Football!! I love my Football Muskies!!!!!!!

I forgot to say in my previous thread, Congrats to Coach Sammons and his Coaching Staff!!!! At times you had a lot of negative comments being thrown your way, including mine, and for that I truly apologize. I'm not in your shoes and shouldn't have made bad remarks. You guys deserve a big thumbs up for a season well ended!! :thumb: Great Job Coaches!!! Hey, to all you that thought the Breds would name the score, all of you who thought GC couldn't do it, and especially to those who thought GC didn't deserve to be in the playoffs, let alone the Regionals, YOU WERE ALL WRONG!!! GC deserved to be there just as much as any team and IMO even more so than any other team. Even though we came up short on the score board we outplayed our opponent. Boys you played your heart and soul tonight and this year, you have NOTHING to hang your heads about. Muskies, you guys are awesome and we LOVE OUR MUSKETEERS!!! Congrats on an AWESOME YEAR!!!!

I, too, am very proud of my MUSKIES!! They've come a long way through a lot of adversity. I'm pulling for them all the way. It doesn't matter how you get there. Our boys are DISTRICT CHAMPS and that's all I've got to say about that. Greenup has every right to be proud of our Musketeers. Go Musketeers!!!
