  1. Maybe he's hoping he'll get an early Christmas gift like the rest of us GC Fans!!
  2. GC is always in the game at half-time whether leading or just trailing by a few, but after half-time it seems to slip away and ends up in a blow out. With the returning players from suspensions and injuries and hoping they make the right adjustments at half-time to play four good quarters of football, I'm picking GC. GC: 34 LC: 20 GO MUSKIES!!!
  3. I agree Old Warrior :thumb:, Coach Sammons calls the wrong plays, at the wrong time, with the wrong personnel. For ex., last night at the Ashland game we(GC) take a 6 to nothing lead on the 1st drive of the game, then our defense forces a punt on their 1st series, then our next offensive series we get the ball deep in our own territory, faced with a 4th and two, we go for it from our own 18 yard line. Obviously not making it, giving Ashland the ball back, painting our defense in a corner, giving up the TD, and killing the momentum we had going. In other words, he has no knowledge in calling a football game . The kids that sacrifice all summer, at practice, always seem to get the short end of the stick because Coach Sammons keeps putting them in these positions. It seems to me that he doesn't really want to win.
  4. It doesn't matter about 06' this is 07' and apparently things have changed. Brooks has a better record this year than all of Sammons put together. The coaches are, yes I said coahes, as negative as they come. I know from personal expeiences. For the most part they have bad attitudes, and everyone talks about the bad attitudes of some of the players and former player, well it started at the top. GC will be lucky to win another game this year because of this. I hope I'm wrong for the boys' sake's, we love our boys and the sooner this season's over the quicker they can put it all behind them, for the seniors they just need to play their best and focus on their future. As far as nobody wanting to coach at GC, It's not because of the negative comments from fans/parents and threads like this one, it's simply because the way things are ran at GC.
  5. I do agree with the ...firetubby.com, but there is no comparison between Coach Sammons and Coach Brooks. GC is 1-5 and UK is 5-1. GO MUSKETEERS!!!!
  6. Thoughts and prayers for the family from The MAN-ning family and GCHS.
  7. Yes, it is solely up to the coach to give extended punishment, but what kind of punishment is doing nothing. The only thing that's hurting those boys is not being in the game. The coach should be making them do double what the team is doing, not sitting and watching or better yet nothing at all. Who wouldn't love time off from practice? Besides, two weeks out of practice and weight lifting is going to hurt them phsyically, that's not good either. They should be running or something while the rest of the team is practicing. This is all just my opinion!
  8. You're right, it's not all about winning and losing! I know some of those boys personally and when you see them like I see them and to know that they've put their heart and soul into the game just to be let down by bad decisions(coaches choice) or have played their hardest and still get yelled at, but the ones who are coaches picks, even when they've not played the way they should, get nothing but praise, then maybe you could have an opinion. I'm on the inside so it's not like I'm just blowing smoke, I do see what goes on and I don't like it. How can it be fun for them when they know no matter what they do it isn;t good enough for some. Those boys that put so much into the game, just to get nothing back, in my book are the best and have no reason in this world to ever hang their heads. One day someone( for the Seniors it'll be their college coach) else will see the best in them rather than the worst.
  9. I'm glad to hear somebody's winning at GCHS! Way to go ! Good luck Monday!:thumb:
  10. I think they should get some playing time. Why is it that every year we've had these freshman amd jv teams go undefeated or almost undefeated, then they get with coach Sammons and you could never tell they were such good players, if you hadn't known it already? I just don't understand how you can go on losing and not change things to make it work, then when he finds something that works he changes it again. Like I said before, Something needs to be done! The boys have suffered so much, they deserve better!!!
  11. I feel that our boys have been punished enough as a team this year, because of the way the season has gone. Coach Sammons should have punished those boys instead of making them sit and watch the other players running and practicing. What kind of punishment was that? Now they're out this week along with two of our other starters, I can't even begin to imagine how the team must feel. I'm so tired of seeing those boys put so much heart and dedication into the game and then be so upset by the results. Something needs to be done!!!!:fight:
  12. Does anyone know what happened to #7 Craft and how he's doing? I was at the game but I'm not sure exactly what he injured or if he'll be out next week. My prayers are with him, though, and of course with the others that were injured and are recovering. It was good to see them at the game, such an emotional night.
  13. He got his L3 and L4 vertebraes broken during the Raceland game.
  14. I heard he will be okay to play College ball and plans to do just that. Any truth there?I think it's wonderful he has such a True and dedicated friend. Those kind of friends are hard to find these days. My prayers too, are with the Yates' family.
  15. There'a another thread about Yates. It's titled: Greenup Injury Update.
  16. How is #53 Yates doing? I hope he's doing well. He's one of a kind on and off the field. He's truly missed! He also has wonderful parents, you couldn't ask for nicer, kinder people.
  17. I was excited  to hear he was back. He has so much talent, it's a shame that it has been wasted. I feel sorry for the SENIORS. This is their last year there and it hasn't been one imo they'll want to remember.
  18. I agree! :thumb: But remember the one who does the hiring is from South Shore, so I don't think hiring outsiders will ever happen. I hope, for the kids sake, that GC gets on the road to Victory. I have kids of my own, who I'd love to see play there. I'm a dedicated GC fan, but if there aren't some changes made( and not just on the surface ) I'll have to take them elsewhere, and the closest school is Raceland.
  19. Just wondering:confused: if Mahan decided to play or not. Does anyone know?
  20. Thanks, Old Rambler! I've read your postings, you seem to be very wise.
  21. What about the poor attitudes:mad: of the ones holding those positions? I've seen those first hand. Some think that they're the only one who is doing their job and the only one who can play that position.
  22. My point was, there are players on the team that have the ability to play other positions, and would do a better job in a certain position than one who is actually in that particular position, but they're not played there because they're not from the right end of the county and who they are or are not.
