  1. No offense but it has proven that against Dayton and Scott. Cooper so far has played competitvely with both NCC and Ryle (the score doesn't tell the whole story). Should be a good game though.
  2. I'm still new to it all so I'm really just trying to experiment to see what I like. I just find it to be a very relaxing hobby.
  3. Anyone here into it? I have recently picked it up as a hobby. If anyone has some pics upload them so we can check them out!
  4. I thought he would have went to Latonia and tried out the Bardzilla at Bard's Burgers!
  5. The game is at 6:55. Tickets are $7 dollars at the gate.
  6. NCC came back and won this game last year. I am going with NCC in a close one.
  7. Elliot did have his worst game against Cooper last year. If i remember correctly he was held under 100 yards rushing.
  8. What week do they play? I'm kind of excited about this now that there is a bet on the line.
  9. I don't know. I think it will be a very good game. It's part of that Skyline thing isn't it?
  10. Any word on how the 7 on 7 looked?
  11. I often get referred to as the Jim Halpert (The office) of where I work. One guy started calling me BigTuna which is the nickname given to Jim by Andy in The Office.
  12. I completely agree. Take managers away from the team and people would quickly realize how you really need them.
  13. No I've heard the same thing. J.P. Williams will be playing TE this year.
  14. Collins is playing for Cooper this year.
  15. Currently reading "Coming Back Stronger" by Drew Brees. Awesome read and very motivational. Also stopped by the bookstore today and picked up Sean Payton's book Home Team. Can't wait to start reading that one.
  16. You ran the wishbone with receivers? Don't teams typically go double tight? I guess if you're WRs are better than your TEs why not?
  17. While i'm sure that Joker is doing his best to improve the team, I don't think they have the athletes to keep up with the Gators. Heck I'm not even sure UK will be able to stop Louisville this year. Charlie Strong has that team on the road to redemption.
  18. I will stick up for the WR's here. Playing Wr is more than just catching the ball. True WR's do not get hit as much as other guys on the field but their job is a mentally tough one. 1. Play memorization. Now of course everyone has to do this, but on any given play, depending on how a teams terminology is, there could be 3 different tags for a WR to know (Alignment, motion, assignment) as well as having to know what the guy next to you is doing so you don't run into each other. 2. Route assignment. Depending on your scheme your routes are either going to be called off of a number tree (ex. 3-Hitch, 4-Deep out) or a given play call where routes are assigned (70- X runs hitch, Y Streak, Z-Post) or it can be tagged (0 Gun 62 Curl). A lot of times I see kids who are running routes they are just trying to get off the ball as quickly as possible. When playing WR, you must look at first where you want to break. You have to determine the speed that is going to set you up for the most success. If you are running a streak, sure let the burners go. If you are running a dig though, you have to set yourself up so that you can drop your hips and get across the field at a 90 degree angle. If you drift one way or the other, you are setting yourself up to get knocked out. 3. Reading the defense and adjusting on the fly. The QB has to do it, so do you. You have to check out the alignment of the CB, S, and LB to determine how fast to move and where to make your cut and look for the ball. If you are running a route and do not adjust to what the defense is doing, you are useless that play and you might as well be playing with 9 or 10 guys. Even though high school defenses are a bit watered down compared to the higher ups, you can still get inverted Cover 2 and 3 looks, zone blitzes, and base defenses. You have to be able to adjust on the fly. 4. Blocking. This is something that kids today do not take enough pride in. Football is a team game and you should be happy about helping one of your teammates score or gain yards. If their are any WR's that are on this site take pride in blocking. 99% of the time a WR is asked to block a CB in the open field. CB's are typically your better atheletes because they have to be able to do so many different things at one time. Whenever a WR steps on the field, you should take pride that 1. the coach trusts you to go out there and block this guy and 2. you get to go against one of the better players on the opposing team. I love O-line play because they are what makes an offense go but you give me a WR and DB going at it in the open field and its a great thing to watch. A lot of quick movements, good hand eye coordination. Great thing. Guess I can get off my soap box. Sorry it was so long, just wanted to get some points across. P.S.- If there are any high school WRs reading this here is a piece of advice. In everything you do, act like you've done it before. No need to be a diva and be needy. Be happy you're on the field playing such a great game.
  19. For as long as I can remember Beechwood has always had really good kickers which is always impressive for a 1A school. Most of the time you just sign the kid who can squib the ball the furthest but with Beechwood I feel like they have always been able to kick the ball to the endzone.
  20. Losing Pike will definitely hurt the young Jags team. They lost a ton of seniors last year but I feel they will actually be better off with this younger group. Hopefully Collins does play as he is a wildcard in that offense. If I remember correctly from the games last year, he lined up as a FB, WR, LB, and DB. The kid is a pretty good athlete it seems. Morris seems like he is a good little QB although his size can hurt him. Losing Bradley definitely hurts but I think by losing him, Cooper will be able to open the offense up a little more. I am impressed with Coach Borchers, his staff, and these kids on how hard they have worked to become a better program. I know the record doesn't show it, but every year these kids have competed more and more with the bigger schools and I think it's safe to say that Cooper is a team that should not be over-looked this year.
  21. With Chad Lawerence gone I see the SK offense starting off slow seeing as he was the offense last year (both throwing and running). SK will also need improved O-line play and establish a running game with their RB not just QB. I can see SK going 6-4 but just as easily going 4-6. Do not overlook Beechwood. They consistantly play bigger schools very well.
  22. First off I would like to say congrats to Beechwood on behalf of winning the district title and moving forward into the playoffs. Best of luck to Coach Rash and his staff. Congrats to Beechwood on a good season and continued success in the playoffs. I would like to see them win state so we can keep that pride in NKY as being one of the more dominate areas of KY football. Secondly I would like to congratulate Ludlow on a good season. Hopefully the kids listen to Coach Hornsby. I know him personally and consider him a good friend. Ludlow kids and parents need to listen to him if they want this program to continue to develop.:thumb:
  23. Congratulations to the Beechwood players. I have always had respect for Beechwood Coaches until last night. Coach Rash showed a classless act that has erased all of my respect for him. Up 41-0 with 43 secs left Coach Rash burns all time outs left to score one more time before half and run up the score. CLASSLESS! The game was won. It reminds me of a Pee Wee Coach who has never heard the unspoken rules of the game. And for all the fans that are going to say well it’s about winning and playoffs, you are just being a cry baby. If you don't understand the point I am making, you are about on the same level as Rash and I don't really have respect for you either. Rash is under the delusion that he is above everyone else. Remember Beechwood wins games and State titles without head coaches showing up. Coach Rash is a classless act, and for the first time in my life, I hope a Northern Kentucky team will not win state in 1A. Once again this is not directed at the players of Beechwood they played great. Just especially disappointed with the lack of class Coach Rash showed.
