Holy cow, the feller in the other thread sounds like a bit of sour grapes to me. Seriously, get over it. Looks like most agree with this being a great game plan. How else would you of wanted HHS to play without arguably their floor leader. With this being a young team, seems to me this was the best way to attack the Pandas. And NDA won because they were the better team tonight. Just like during the regular season game. NDA won! So really does it matter if NDA would have won 54-48 or something like that. NOPE!!! Again, great game plan!!! Just didn't play out for the Birds this time.

 

I guess the big question is, does any other Coach in the regions try this strategy?

Are you kidding!! No other coach in the region is going to follow this embarrasmet for their school and their players. Teach your kids how to play and let them go give it their best. This is not a strategy this is giving up on your kids and your ability to coach. Hey girls I don't believe in you at all so we are going to just going to go out and stand with the ball because you have no chance of winning and I know it. I wonder if she kicked em in the rear as they left the locker room and said get out of here losers. Wow!!!!!

Not trying to suggest it was cheating, coaches do coach to win but to expect your ball club to slow down a complete game to win then that goes against everything they have been taught since the their first competitive game, did the coach feel her team could not compete attacking and defending? If you win a game like this what is the next game plan? Just think it goes against the basic principle of the game which is to score more points than your opponent. With the approach tonight when were they suppose to turn it on and how do you motive your team for the next game?

I do think a team should have to kick to a return threat just like I would never tell that person when you get the ball lay down. I agree this is my opinion and normally I believe in being positive but truly does anyone believe telling kids that have been schooled to go out and play better than your opponent lay down a good game?

Just an isolated incident tonite. I am telling you ND beats Highlands by 20 if they dont apply this strategy and this was the only way Highlands could keep this close. Do you like it, obviously not, It sounds as if it would have been a crime if Highlands had won this game with this gameplan because it wasnt textbook, thats your opinion.

 

Every once in awhile a coach does something that isnt close to the book and totally floors the opponent both physically and emotionally. I can assure you it was effective and darn near worked. As stated before really good teams endure all types of gameplans and strategies and ND did this tonite.

ND was ready and hungry tonite to kick some butt and Highlands said no, you are going to play per our rules and ND did.

ND had their chances to change the tempo of this game but chose not to. Now if all of this is Highlands fault then so be it.

See you say get better at tackling and stopping him and I say tell your kicker to get better and be able to kick it out of the endzone to keep their star down.

You say get better and stop the players one on one and I say do anything within the rules to exploit the game.

Not so sure, think about it, if Highlands plays to their full potential are they not capable of beating Norte Dame? This approach I do agree sends a message that if we don't slow we can't win! Sorry just can't get over not playing hard win or lose. I would rather lose by 20 trying than win by 2 because I fooled the other team. Coach, believe and possibly your team can go on a run, winning this game this way would have lead Higlands to worse lost the next game. I am not the coach and I am sure in her heart she meant well and wanted to win the game.

How do you sell this to your players?

You sell it as the best way to advance on. Players will do anything to continue on.

And, I can't get past BOK charging players to park. Have a little class!!!

 

It is cheaper than buying a bus like the rest of the schools use.

So if Coach Richy says to her team, I am not going to coach you the best way to win because some might perceive it as "being cheated" out of possibly your last high school game. Stop it!. Don't you think the Seniors and all the other players would say " hey Coach, no we want the best chance to win" way. I do!!! What is embarrassing would be the crowd yelling like you say they were. Also my opinion!!!

 

Hey kids will always do what their coach says, but coaches at this level should do what is best for their players. This team struggled all year but never gave up, ever, I admired the team that gave 110 percent in losing games. The look on their faces during most of this game was heart wrenching. This one was about someones grand idea which in the end just fissled and made people wonder why they even bother going to a girls game. Making the Region and playing on the big floor is a dream for many kids. By my count of the 30 athletes dressed about 14 even saw the floor.

 

Shame so few had the opportunity to experience the arena and really play the game it was designed for.
