Here is what is so shocking to me. Folks are saying the only way for Highlands to win was to pull off this game plan. Is there really that much of a difference between the # 3 team in the region and a # 6 team??

The winner of the first 3 games of the tournament was decided by halftime of each game. Is that fun to watch?

I see no problem with the strategy and the execution of the game plan. As others have posted I can't understand not coming out and pressuring the ball with man to man and forcing the 5 counts etc... IF the opposing coach allows you to play this style and give you a chance to win, then go for it.

Girls games are hard enough to watch. Can't imagine paying 8 bucks to witness this one! I still won't root for UC because of the Yates era.

YOu hit the nail on the head. Those other games were VERY BORING to watch. Congrats to ND on advancing and kudos to Highlands for sticking to a plan that almost beat a top 10 team in the state!!

I've seen a lot of girls games and enjoy watching them compete. It is just at a different level of athleticism. Boys games, colleges-- execute games plans, move the ball and play good fundamentals but closer to the rim and at a quicker pace.

They were only down 4 at the time. One missed shot and HHS has the ball down 4.

 

My guess is Nicole changes her strategy should she ever be in the same situation in the future.

The goal for HHS was to get late into the 4th quarter with a chance to win. By NDA holding the ball and running clock, they did the Birds job for them. Jamie was probably ecstatic when she saw NDA melting away the third period.

You should experience the players faces who are in during the 4th quarter of those blow outs. They love the experience. They worked hard all year to get a few precious moments even under those circumstances. Don't kid yourself if you think they would rather sit and watch a stall and miss the playing opportunity.

Since when are HS players and coaches responsible for putting butts in the seats? Coaches want to win, coaches get paid to win. They'll do whatever they think is right to win. They could care less if you show up.

 

Perhaps they care less but they should care. Girls basketball would die off, Volleyball anyone?

They did. They put the team first and executed their best strategy to win. Didn't care about seniors last game or individual scoring averages. The team wins, you win. A lot of people on here don't seem to get that.

It should be about the players. End of story. This sucked for the players on both teams. High School athletics is about teaching values not winning a quarterfinal game..

The players who worked so hard for so long deserved a chance to run the floor and maybe, just maybe, pull out a legit win.

 

So if HHS had won, their win wouldn't be "legit"? Make sure you tell the NDA players that their win last night wasn't "legit".
