February 27, 201214 yr The story I am reading on the KBA Facebook page is the Pikeville 8th grade team brought an ineligible player and the coach knew all along. Many are stating that KBA also knew and did nothing about it until hafltime of the Championship game between Holmes / Pikeville. This is pretty sad but not surprising to me. The coach and KBA should be ashamed of themselves. Congrats to the Bulldogs 8th grade State Championship team. http://www.playkba.com/default.aspx
February 27, 201214 yr There are 2 rather lengthy threads on The site that shall not be named on this. Rather intriguing stuff for those of you that visit it.
February 27, 201214 yr Seems pretty ugly. It also seems the EKY schools take their grade school/middle school ball much more seriously than the rest of the state.
February 27, 201214 yr Pike like knowingly played an in eligible player during the KbA tournament. They tried saying they were coming as an AAU TEAM and not a school representing team. It's very sad for this to happen. Fans knew it the moment he stepped on the court but officials did not make an announcement until halftime of the championship game. Dorton should have been the state champs. Also EKY is very serious about basketball at both the grade school and high school levels.

February 27, 201214 yr Pike like knowingly played an in eligible player during the KbA tournament. Dorton should have been the state champs. Isn't Pike the same team that made news for the crazy loop-sided game early in the year, like 100 to 2 ? Nice. Why should Dorton and not Holmes been the State Champs? Did Dorton play and beat the bulldogs?
February 27, 201214 yr Seems pretty ugly. It also seems the EKY schools take their grade school/middle school ball much more seriously than the rest of the state. Basketball and football, from what I understand. I don't question a parent's decision to hold a child back, but when pretty much all the ballplayers are held back, that doesn't pass the smell test for me.

Did Dorton play and beat the bulldogs? I'm just saying Dorton was the better then Pikeville but Pikevulle beat them while playing the ineligible player so IMO it was unjust in Dorton losing that game because I feel had they won they would have been the state champs. No fact just opinion.
February 28, 201214 yr WOW! Now I remember why I don't go on other boards, one guy is the TRUE "idiot", lol! If there were posts being made about the kid in question before the tourney even started how in the world did the team get to halftime of the finals before something was done about it? If people knew about the issue before the tourney how did the coach, school or KBA not?

February 28, 201214 yr Author Apparently everyone associated with Pikeville had to of known the kid wasnt eligible but they played it off like they were bringing their AAU team. The only thing wrong is it was a Middle School State Tourney and not AAU. The coach should be embarrassed and the parents that knew should also be ashamed. From what I read on Facebook, there were some parents harrassing parents of other schools also after the DQ. What a bunch of immature losers. KBA also waiting until halftime of the Championship game was a BAD decision. They now look bad as well and I wouldnt doubt it if there is less participation next year. Its all about the money at KBA....get that entry fee and let em play on.
February 28, 201214 yr ^ That's the sad thing, adults screwed it up for these kids, their own kids as well! They very well could have won the title, and they screw their own kids out of it! THANKS MOM AND DAD!
February 28, 201214 yr Kenton Co Schools are now banned from playing in the KBA due to the same issue in the 7th grade tournament this year.
