February 28, 201214 yr Apparently everyone associated with Pikeville had to of known the kid wasnt eligible but they played it off like they were bringing their AAU team. The only thing wrong is it was a Middle School State Tourney and not AAU. The coach should be embarrassed and the parents that knew should also be ashamed. From what I read on Facebook, there were some parents harrassing parents of other schools also after the DQ. What a bunch of immature losers. KBA also waiting until halftime of the Championship game was a BAD decision. They now look bad as well and I wouldnt doubt it if there is less participation next year. Its all about the money at KBA....get that entry fee and let em play on. 1,000% agree!!! I guarantee that is why they waited until halftime to make the announcement. Everyone has already paid, a Champion can be declared.... I hate going to the KBA for AAU ball!!! If you have the entry fee you are in, regardless of the ages, etc.. You have your younger brother’s birth certificate (or really anyones birth certificate), you are good to go...... welcome to the KBA! The KBA and AAU, in my opinion, are both jokes when it comes to AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
February 28, 201214 yr No question Clyde. Holdbacks the norm rather than the exception. Agreed!!! However, I'm sure it is for academic reasons only though ....... yeah right!
February 29, 201214 yr Author Kenton Co Schools are now banned from playing in the KBA due to the same issue in the 7th grade tournament this year. Can you explain this to us who are not privy to what happened? What School within the District and what was the circumstance?
February 29, 201214 yr Not sure of the full circumstance, however central office sent an email to all involved in KC athletics that teams were not allowed to compete in KBA going forward (why the 8th grade boys teams that were going to play in the tournament had to drop out) until KCBOE could look into KBA and how it is organized and ran.

Kenton Co BOE told their 8th grade teams they (KCBOE) were not allowing them to play at the KBA, due to an issue with a 7th grade team?

Yes, there was some issue one of the 7th grade teams had at the 7th grade KBA championship tournament. After that, KCBOE told ALL their teams they could not participate in any KBA events going forward, not just the 8th grade. (8th grade happen to be the only tournament left for this season)
