Clyde
I read today that the CJ will require you to pay to read its online edition starting sometime in 2012. Your thoughts? Being in KY I rarely check it out other than Demling.

Clyde
I guess the better study would be to ask those that do read it somewhat regularly today.
HammerTime
I don't read it regularly so obviously I wouldn't pay for it. I don't see this ending well.
Clyde
I think there are some papers that can get away with it. I'm not sure if the CJ is one of them. The Columbus Dispatch tried this years ago but I don't think it worked and now they're back to free.
98NCCalum
I won't read it specifically because they're charging. BGP is much wiser investment....

Clyde
Doesn't the NYT do it now? Or they did? Slightly different. They let you rid a bit but if you want full access you pay. They can get away with it. I don't think the CJ can unless they believe it will force people to buy the print edition and I doubt that will happen. formerkywrestler
I read it fairly often now. But nope, I will most definitely not pay.
mcpapa
The ONLY thing I read in the C-J are the football and basketball ratings. And I can sure live without them.
DragonFire
I look at the ratings and read some other things from time to time, but they'll just get removed from my list should this occur. Same thing I did with the Kentucky New Era when it started charging for content.
formerkywrestler
I should point out, I usually read the print edition only while waiting for food or eating my lunch. If I had to pay for it I wouldn't either. It's a decent time-killer but by no means something I have to have. Same goes for the website. Either way, this does not seem to be the right move for the CJ.
RockPride
I read it online, virtually everyday, but will stop doing so, once they require pay. Not a huge fan of having to pay for admission.
