February 23, 201214 yr Didnt the 82 Carolina team also have Sam Perkins and James Worthy? It wasnt all about Jordan. Also, Georgetown was led by Patrick Ewing. I understand about the list though. I would play any of these teams with Dr's of Dunk 1980 Louisville team lead by Griffith, Derek Smith, and Rodney McCray UNC in '82 was top heavy in the starting lineup and not very deep. Worthy was a Junior (would go pro), Perkins was a Soph, Jordan was a Frosh. It was different brand of ball in those days prior to the shot clock and 3 point line. I remember they handled KY pretty easily in the season but UK fell apart that year and lost to Middle TN State. I always felt that they should have won by larger margins and if memory serves they struggled with UVA for king of the ACC that year.

March 22, 201214 yr No one had 1976 Indiana rated #1. No one had 1996 Kentucky lower than 6, and two of the four had them at #2. How did the final tally come up with their positions? Among others, I just looked at those two first.
March 22, 201214 yr I have never seen the '96 UK team ranked that low in these annual "all time" threads.
March 22, 201214 yr Glad to see San Francisco teams rated. A lot of you too young to remember Bill Russell who in my opinion is greatest team player of all time. Won NCAA his JR and SR years and also had all time winning streak till UCLA broke it. Also agree with some other posts 1954 Kentucky is one of the best ever.
March 23, 201214 yr I'd like to buy tickets to the session that would include '76 IU vs '91 UNLV then '96 UK vs '74 NCST.
March 23, 201214 yr ^ Thanks for posting! I always hate lists like this, because of how high the 1982 Carolina team is ranked. The 2009 Carolina team was far better, and probably the 2005 team too. But people cannot separate Michael Jordan the pro from Michael Jordan the collegian. MJ is the best of all-time IMO, but he was only a freshman that year. As a collegian he averaged slightly under 18 ppg & was not the best player of all-time until later. As much as I hate Duke, I don't see how their 1991-92 team is ranked so low, seeing as how they won back-to-back titles. I see Christian Laettner as one of the greatest college players ever. The UNLV team of that same era was perhaps the most dominant team I've ever seen in my lifetime. 1996 Kentucky is also in that conversation. 1982 Carolina was obviously very, very good. But no way do I rank them so high. I completely agree; like them or not the Duke team from that time is one of the top. IMO, the 1990 UNLV team is the best and the 1996 UK team is definitely in there too.
