Owen County's Sawyer Williams has been named Player of the Year. Rebel coach Devin Duvall receives Coach of the Year honors. Others All Region members include:

Both are very good players, but would be hard to get both on when Grant County has a .500 record. To be honest, in that situation, they probably split each others vote. Meaning that some coaches voted for one and some voted the other, causing neither to get enough points to make it.

SK arguably the best team in the region gets 1? Owen 4th or 5th in region gets 2 and player of the year and coach of the year? R u kidding me?

A lot of SK's success this year has come on the defensive side of the ball where you don't get a lot of accolades other than wins. The thing that has come around as the season has gone on is their scoring off the defense.

 

SK's proximity to their region and with teams in their conference has given developed into somewhat of an identity crisis. Most of their conference is in the 9th where most of their games get played. Hard to vote for kids that you don’t get to see play.

 

I'm sure the guys who weren't recognized would rather have a regional title where they certainly aren’t a favorite but a team that could be cutting down the nets at the Roy.

Could someone out there please post the criteria or protocol used for choosing All Region players? I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the list but it would certainly be helpful in understanding it.

Each head coach in the region sends in their list of their vote for the top 12 players in the region in order. The top player gets 12 points, bottom player gets 1 point. The 15 players with the most points make up the All Region Team with the player with the most points being the Player of the Year.

I don't have any issue with the SK selection. They have one player who is all region material this season. The other guys are pretty talented but not worthy of being all region.
