April 11, 201214 yr Same price when I was there! I drove around the block and parked it myself. I guess I am a tight wad! Yep. We parked in the garage next to the Coliseum. 12 bucks
April 11, 201214 yr Author Nobody else walks the Suspension Bridge any more? Except for the few times that I've had parking passes given to me, I can't think of a single time that I've ever parked in Cincinnati for the Reds games (or for the Lager House).

Used to walk the bridge all the time. Too cold last night. The best deal is to take the SouthBank shuttle. 1 dollar.

Except for the few times that I've had parking passes given to me, I can't think of a single time that I've ever parked in Cincinnati for the Reds games (or for the Lager House). I walked the bridge last night and Monday night. At least for Reds game, I always walk the Bridge. Park at the meters next to the Travel Lodge. 2 bucks for 4 hours.
April 12, 201214 yr Used to walk the bridge all the time then I got married. The wife has something against walking the bridge. I got her to do it once and she got across it but when we were walking back from the Reds game in the dark it really freaked her out. She made it but she said she would never do that again. So now we just take the ferry at JB Finn's.

Except for the few times that I've had parking passes given to me, I can't think of a single time that I've ever parked in Cincinnati for the Reds games (or for the Lager House). Used to walk the suspension bridge all the time, back in the Riverfront days. Still will, on occassion, for PBS. I'll walk the purple people thing too for Reds games. Most of the time I won't because there are still places downtown to park pretty cheaply that are much closer. What I won't do is walk across a bridge or walk three or four blocks to go to dinner, or "hang out". This is the problem I see with MLH, and the other Banks projects. Parking is going to be a serious issue for these places.
April 13, 201214 yr ^They have parking right under the banks for a pretty reasonable price. It's never been full when I've went down there, even at 10 PM on a Friday/Saturday night. :idunno:
April 13, 201214 yr As someone who has utilized a Groupon offer as a merchant, and as a consumer: As a merchant model, it's great for exposure and terrible for profit. Hypothetically the premise is that consumers will spend more on their purchase, whether food or merchandise or services, than they would if they were purchasing the offer at full price. In reality, the majority of those offers are redeemed for exactly what the offer includes, and doesn't result in increasted repeat business from a new demographic. That being said: If restricted properly, the model can get you tons of exposure and some incremental "lift" in your business. The keys are to ensure your offer is presented in a time frame that will impact you "distress" period. You should think long and hard about how many you allow to be purchased. If your offer is too good, you can be overrun and it backfire. I do not personally know of any business who's participated in Groupon (or any of the competitive sites) out of desparation. I know the offer that we participated in was wildly successful in terms of exposure, and it filled a need we had, in a time frame we needed it. But it's unlikely to be done again. Groupon et al have very un-merchant-friendly business practices, including requirements about how long the offer must be valid, usually a minimum of 6 months. For the business that I worked that did this it's not practical. There are simply too many factors that can't be predicted six-months out. What seemed like a good idea today could kill you if all those offers are redeemed at a time you didn't need them. Again, as a consumer, I love Groupon offers (and the like). As a merchant, I urge caution. And the understanding that there is a very real perception out there that yes, only businesses who are desparate participate in those types of programs. It's really funny how gleefully people will by discount offers to places they deemed unworthy of their patronage in the past.

April 13, 201214 yr 8 bucks is reasonable? It's never been more than $5 for me, and yes, I consider that reasonable on a Friday/Saturday night considering how close it is to everything.
April 14, 201214 yr What I won't do is walk across a bridge or walk three or four blocks to go to dinner, or "hang out". This is the problem I see with MLH, and the other Banks projects. Parking is going to be a serious issue for these places. I've been there on multiple occasions and have NEVER had a problem parking. There is a huge parking garage underneath that offers plenty of parking for a fairly reasonable price (anywhere from $4 to $8). A couple weekends ago, on a SATURDAY, I was able to find a spot on the street TWICE. Once in the early afternoon (around noon) and again a couple hours later (around 4:00 p.m.). I thought that parking could be problematic but it honestly has not been an issue at all.

Paying $8 is not bad at all, considering it's downtown, it's surrounded by entertainment options, and it's a safe, secure, and very clean garage.

I walk it every year to opening day by myself and to most games..park for free behind a buddies business on Madison.
