Second time in 4 years Boone has beat the #1 team in the region at home. Also beat Holmes' state title team in 09.

I don't get it. He's really, really good at what he does and doesn't do what he can't but you can take his game away. I've seen it once or twice this year.

Double him, foce him out away from the basket, don't let him catch it. I don't know but he can singlehandedly beat you.

I'd rather have him under the basket than sitting out on the line. You have to close out on him properly to take away his favorite move. You have to cut him off when he's trying to go off of a screen. You have to play physical with him. I wouldn't double him.

Where was the Dixie defense tonight?

 

Boone shot 52% form the floor. But guess what ... Dixie shot 63%! And lost!!

Credit Coach McQueary. He runs great offensive sets that use a lot of movement and picks and creates shots.

KHSAA shows Coach McQ's first year at Boone as 2004-05, was he an assistant there for a few years? I show him as head coach at Bardstown during the years 1997-98 and 1998-99, but not sure before or after that where he was. Can anyone else enlighten us?

Went from Bardstown to Caldwell County and then to Boone. Not much success at Caldwell County. Looking at his success at Boone, I guess we'll call it another example of the Belichek effect.

Not surprised by this. 6 teams are really close with Dixie and HC a little better than the rest, but not enough to say anyone is a shoo-in. Definitely one of the top 6 won't make the region, but it could be 4 depends on Boone ( no gimme game), but I don't see them losing the district. The region tourney should be as good as last year. No one should be surprised if one of the top 6 wins the region.

McQueary moves extremely well without the ball. One of the biggest reasons he was able to get the open looks from 3 that he got was because of his ability to move without the ball and use the screens set up for him to get shots. The kid never stops moving. Dixie used Stansberry on McQueary a lot so Boone would runs sets that would force Dixie to switch defensively off screens which left Zane either wide open for a shot or an opportunity to shoot over a smaller defender. He also got two buckets off offensive rebounds.
