3rd quarter was the turning point in this game. The Breds had MANY good looks but the shots would just not fall, would love to know the numbers in the 3rd. Breds did a nice job of coming back from 9 down in the 4th and had the last shot in regulation. Evan Morse played his butt off filling in for McDonald again tonight.

Glad to see Morse getting an opportunity, albeit at MacDonald's expense.

Glad also to hear that Drew will be back for the Distircts.

Walter, just read the update thread for the game and it was AWESOME, you were SPOT ON. Can you tell me one thing.........where in the world was the Holmes faithful tonight???? There could not have been more than 30 Holmes fans there!

Holmes really doesn't travel all that well. Throw ok the weather and you get a somewhat thin crowd tonight.

Newcath really game out shooting hot from outside tonight and that helped propel them to an early 21-9 lead. Once that shooting cooled off, it became the Dontel Rice show. He was a man among boys out there tonight. Drew a lot of fouls and single handedly got Newcath in foul trouble by being aggressive and attacking. Breds had no answer for his size or athleticism.

Once Holmes got the lead late in third quarter, they were able to build some momentum and build a 9 pt lead after Coston drained a 3 with 347 left. Missed free throws a.d turnovers allowed Newcath to get back in the game though. Digs had a 4 pt lead with under a minute to go but back to back turnovers allowed Newcath to tie it.

With 15 seconds left, Waller gets bumped out of bounds (clear foul) and he turns it over. Breds hold for last shot but Beuter 16 footer is off the rim.

I'm OT miller gave the Breds a 2 pt lead with a trey but Holmes would regain the lead again and never look back. Dontel Rice got two huge rebounds in OT that allowed the Dogs to seal the deal at the line.

A few thoughts:

1. Officiating was absolutely HORRIBLE...9 fouls called in 4 mins ito start the second half. Both teams had a lot go against them and a lot that didn't get called.

2. Dontel Rice is jands down top 2 in the region. When they clear out and let him go to work, he is either going to draw a foul, get a bucket, or find a teammate for an easy basket. Holmes let him go one on one a lot tonight and Breds had no answer. 14 and 10 first half...13-7 second half.

3. Breds were very balanced tonight with Hightchew leading the way. Don't like his mental approach but kid has game and is tough.

4. Newcath killed Holmes in the first half on the boards. Dogs players were just standing around and Newcath took advantage. Credit Holmes coaching staff for making proper adjustments.

5. Holmes was missing Knox and Tre Lewis tonight...not sure why.

6. Martin and Coston were huge tonight. Martin played well entire game but Coston really picked it up second half. Newcath was very balanced.
