Holy Cross v Dixie Heights Cancelled

Featured Replies

Sorry if it has already been posted but just heard it is cancelled due to HC needing to cut games due to the All A State Title run.

Find it kinda odd though they'd cancel Dixie instead of 10th region Campbell Co.

Thoughts?

Strategic move.

If you are in the 9th, you should be required to play everyone in the 9th. If you don't, then you should not be eligible to play in the 9th Region tournament. This smells like rotten fish.

I guarantee that not every team in the 9th Region plays every team in the 9th Region...so I guess we won't have a 9th Region tournament this year.

I understand your thinking but I'm not sure its plausible. Do all 9th region schools play all 9th region schools? Does Covington Catholic play Dayton and Bellevue? And realistically, Campbell County is just as much a "local" game as Dixie Heights would be.

Almost impossible and there would be way too many blow outs and games not worth seeing. I am sure this is a strategy move for HC in case they face them in the regional tournament.

I would have liked to have seen this game as it could have been a preview of a regional type game. If HC reasoning was the team needed a break after the All A I would have thought that they would have cancelled the Campbell County game for tonight.

Anyway this could be a strategy move on Dixie's part or a mutual agreement? Just asking.

I think it would have made more sense to cancel Conner or St. Henry. They have all ready played St. Henry once and beat them pretty good. But I guess you want to keep teams on your schedule that you know you can beat. Hopefully, they will meet in the regional and Holy Cross won't be able to dodge them.

Campbell Co game tonight is senior night - couldn't cancel this one.

Cov Cath game Friday night is a district seed game - obviously can't cancel that.

Dixie or Conner were the only other 2 possibilities.

* I really don't see what the big deal is. When you make extended runs in tournaments like HC has done in all 3 that they have entered this year, then the possibility of cancelling a game was a possibility. To give the kids a break was not the reason.

Maybe Dixie Heights can play Highlands. They are looking for a game. Owen County canceled against them for the same reason.

Yes, hopefully they will meet in the regional! I'm sure HC respects all the opponents left on their schedule. They don't KNOW they can beat any of them!

HC is afraid to play Dixie now? - How funny...Let's all hail and annoint Dixie the 9th regional crown now. lol

Which is why I said Campbell Co would've made more sense.

And honestly, if HC wants to be a legit region contender, why not play the best to see what you need to work on, win or lose?

I hate to say it and go all "uk#1fan" in this thread but seems to me like HC is ducking the Red Colonels.

It doesn't really bother me and I might do the same with the region coming up so soon. I don't think HC needs to play Dixie in order to be considered a "legit region contender." They are.
