Baseball Nut, your explanation makes sense, but I'd think Coach Goetz would want to play Dixie over Conner...Dixie gets them prepared for district tourney and it would be a game that makes them better.

Saw the post after I quoted the prior post,,,my apologies. That's why I immediately edited the post.

It doesn't really bother me and I might do the same with the region coming up so soon. I don't think HC needs to play Dixie in order to be considered a "legit region contender." They are.

I agree...they are a legit region contender.

My point is, if I'm a coach I want my team to play the best later in the year so I can see where my team stacks up and what they need to work on in case a future match up occurs.

Looks like bad scheduling to me. If you are planning on doing outside tournaments that might cause you to exceed the 30 game limit, perhaps you should not over book which might cause you to cancel games that were scheduled prior to the season beginning.

On the other side of the coin you also expose your strengths and weaknesses to a potential opponent. Goes both ways. HC's schedule has them prepared for the tourney. One more game isn't going to make a difference IMO.

Double edged sword...I agree.

I guess it's just the "fan" coming out in me and wanting to see this game to put the "who is better?" debate to rest.

Not bad scheduling. I'm sure Coach Goetz never envisioned winning all 12 games in 3 tournaments at the beginning of the year. Plus there was a possibility of getting a bye in the All-A regional which would have put them right at 30 games.

Hard to predict your season though, RE.

This happens a lot with "A" teams that make deep runs.

Agreed on the "fan" part.

Agreed, but I think the HC powers at be were pretty optimistic about this season, right? Most teams know after a season is over whether or not they will be in contention for the next season.

I guarantee that not every team in the 9th Region plays every team in the 9th Region...so I guess we won't have a 9th Region tournament this year.

CovLatin hasn't played Holmes in years...

When you look at the dates of the remaining schedule it all makes since. The Dixie game is the night after a dist seed game. All other are spaced out a few days. No one wants a large gap in the schedule and some of them have to be pkayed. Thise that think HC is trying to hide from Dixie, well we have all met morons before.

Hope they don't make it to Rupp. What would they do if they had to play on Saturday morning and Saturday night? Quandary?
