Run To State
Have I gotten so old that 9 volt batteries are not a well know product these days? I went to Sears today on my lunch to buy a new multimeter. It requires a 9 volt battery that, of course, is sold separately. So I walk up to the counter, in the tools section mind you, and ask the guy where the 9 volt batteries were. He looked at me as if I were speaking a language he wasn't familiar with. "What do you mean", he asked, "how big a battery is it"? "You know, a 9 volt battery" I said while holding my thumb and finger to about the length of a 9 volt battery. "I'm not sure I know what you're talking about" he says to me. "Not like a car battery?", he adds. "No!" "Just your everyday run of the mill 9 volt" I say. "I'm not sure I know what you mean, can you describe it?", he asks me. At this point I'm thinking "is this guy serious?" I thought for a second that maybe he never in his life ever owned anything that took a 9 volt battery. But in my mind I reassured myself that surely he had a toy or something at some point in his life that required a 9 volt battery. I decided to answer his question. "A 9 volt battery", as if that was going to help. He stared at me with a blank look. I continued, "you know, a rectangular shaped battery with a smaller circular connector and a bigger hexagonal connector next to the smaller one." The dazed stare continues. I go on, "you know, you have C size, D size, AA and AAA and 9 volt". A hint of light comes to his eyes, "oh, I think I know what you mean. Yeah, we don't have anything like that". :isurrender: I just scratched my head in disbelief and said, "that's ok I'll check at the gas station, thanks". I don't think he ever really caught on. That or I got played and he's telling everyone about the old guy he just put one over on. :idunno:
woodsrider
You should have asked him for a tack hammer so you could hit him in the head. A 9 volt is just as common today as it was 10 or even 20 years ago. Dude is obviously an idiot.
