January 26, 201214 yr Rutgers Greg Schiano. :ohbrother: Talk about a train-wreck of an organization.
January 26, 201214 yr Author This makes me ask the question....What is it about Mike Zimmer that is turning these teams off? He's been a candidate for the past couple seasons and teams keep making head-scratching decisions over hiring him. Is he just terrible at interviews?

From I've heard is that Zimmer speaks his mind forcefully in these interviews. Maybe comes off a little to blunt.
January 26, 201214 yr Why is this a bad hire? He's 68-67 at Rutgers(Big East college football). I am a Bucs fan and I am as upset about this hire as I was with Morris getting the job. Why is it a good hire? I'll let you try to convince me it is. Someone make me feel good about this. Right now I am upset and confused.

Seriously....maybe it's time to find a new team.
January 26, 201214 yr Call to One Buc Place.... Good morning and welcome to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. How may I direct your call? Hello? Joel Glazer, please. He's negotiating with Greg Schiano and unavailable at the moment. You may leave him a message, though. OK. Let me do that. BEEP WHAT THE HELL MAKES YOU EVEN WONDER IF THE NAME SCHIANO WOULD INSPIRE ENTHUSIASM AMONG THE FAN BASE? ARE YOU THE WORLD'S BIGGEST IDIOT??? Have a nice day, goodbye. "!!!!! SLAM !!!!!"
January 26, 201214 yr I think he has done a great job at Rutgers considering most people dont want to go to school in blizzard land. Tampa needs a discipline style coach to not only take control of the players on the field, but to help the management of the whole team, (something that was been missing since Gruden and Dungy left)

Jury is out and winning cures everything. As of today...not sold.

Tampa needs a discipline style coach to not only take control of the players on the field, but to help the management of the whole team, (something that was been missing since Gruden and Dungy left) Raheem Morris was a disciplinarian. Heck, he even sent a player home during a game for committing a stupid penalty. Fined him, too. What more discipline do you want? According to the new CBA, coaches can't TAZ them. What they need is an experienced coach to deal with the youth, hire the appropriate people to fix the defense, and to get the fans excited enough to actually attend games again. They need butts in the seats. This hire ain't it. I predict all home games blacked out next season, even night games, if they get one.
January 26, 201214 yr I wouldn't call North Jersey "blizzard land". They don't get anymore snow than us . It seams like a reach, but Rutgers was an awful program for years, one of the worst in the country and Sciano turned it aroundto respectability. How he will translate to the nfl is another tougher question to answer. With the really young team they have, an energetic college coach may be a good fit, despite not being an exciting hire.
January 26, 201214 yr In fairness he does have an extensive NFL coaching resume: From 1996 to 1998, Schiano was an assistant coach in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. For his first two seasons there, he was a defensive assistant, and then was promoted in his third and final season with the Bears to defensive backfield coach. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Schiano I wonder how far down the list Schiano was?
