I aplogize. I knew that. I totally misread and misunderstood your statement.

All the hype about Barker I guess we should expect him to commit to Georgetown or Thomas More like Vocke and Cohorn in a couple years?

 

Still cannot understand what your problem with small colleges is. Very few high school players play at the next level. The ones that do should be commended. My daughter has several schools interested in her for lacrosse and that includes D1, D2 and D3. She likes the D3 opportunities the best from an academic and ratio perspective. Should I think anything less of her if she does not consider D1 or is more heavily recruited by them? High scholl players create very little hype if any at all. The hype is created by the media and certain posters on forums like BGP.

I understand where you are coming from. I think it's only natural to want to see your local star perform at the next level and even possibly on TV. I thnk what a lot of zealous posters get trapped into is the high school stats. They are not looking through the same lens as a seasoned college coach/recruiter. Take Vocke for instance. I watched him for 2 solid years and it was a thrill every time he touched the ball. First blush, I had him pegged for D1. Thinking deeper, I realized he is on the small side and D1 defenses are just as fast as he is. Miles Simpson had great stats as well in HS and is a physical specimen. More of a "for sure" at D1. Vocke will do just fine at Georgetown and I will probably make an effort to see a few games. Don't stop touting your SK boys in the manner in which you do. High school programs are defined by the support they get from the community. My old high school coach once said, "Boys, the first time you strap on a helmet you all have big time potential. It's what you do between now and your graduation that will define if you truly did". This coach also had a player that blossomed in his senior year and went on to play Div. 2 college ball and 9 years in the NFL. Hyped or not, on the radar or not, one never knows. That's the beauty of high school athletics.

FYI, for what its worth story on Barker is currently on the front page of the Ohio State scout site. Pretty impressive list of teams after him. No OSU offer right now, but they don't just throw random kids on there, and newest Buckeye Kerry Coombs is recruiting him.

Drew has been invited to Columbus for a visit.

Impressed by the video of Barker. He has the ability to make something out of nothing, how many interceptions did he throw?

6 or 7. Only 2 of those in the last half of the season. His accuracy got better as the year went on which probably makes sense.

 

He's excited but he knows other kids are getting the looks as well. His head is spinning a bit right now trying to figure out what his summer schedule will be.

Barker has quite a few schools looking at him.. The kid is 16 years old I believe, and will continue to grow and mature as a player, and as a young man.. Expect a lot of noise to be made this year in Hebron, Barker has several weapons at his disposal, thus drawing more attention to him. He will play D1 (if he so chooses)...

 

And as far as a player choosing to play at Thomas More, or Georgetown.. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. If I am not mistaken both programs are year in and year out in the hunt for a national title in their respective divisions (D3 & NAIA). Nothing wrong with a kid wanting the opportunity to win a ring. Not to mention both schools are stellar academic institutions. Can't play ball forever, education is something that can never be taken away..
