January 17, 201214 yr Over 19 years then maybe so. :thumb: I think it is also worth noting that Malone was one of the two centerpieces for a Jazz franchise that was highly successful during his 18 seasons there. That is also a factor. If Kevin Martin averaged 25 per game for roughly two decades as the centerpiece of the same franchise that enjoyed a high level of success because of him during that time, then this comparison might be valid.

January 17, 201214 yr Author They try to play everybody on the Olympic teams because they pick an All-Star team. If we are talking about a serious matchup with these two, 10-12 might play, but there are going to be about 8 who eat up the bulk of the minutes. So, I won't discount it, but I will minimize the Lamar Odom vs. Christian Laettner matchup because it wouldn't matter. Fair enough. I don't have Lamar in my final 12 though so it'd be someone like Westbrook or Chandler with minimal impact for me.

January 17, 201214 yr Fair enough. I don't have Lamar in my final 12 though so it'd be someone like Westbrook or Chandler with minimal impact for me. I was just taking it from the list in Post #13. But, you get the idea. Whoever the #12 guy is just won't be a huge factor, IMO. To be honest, if I were constructing a team, I'd prefer to have the last 2-3 spots filled with specialist guys who would be viewed as less talented. I'd rather have a Steve Kerr on the end of my bench instead of a third string wing-man to back up Kobe and D-Wade. Obviously, they don't do it that way. But, I think there is value in guys who understand, accept and can fulfill a particular role to round out a team vs. a guy who wants to prove he can be just as good as the guys he's backing up.

It should be noted to the jury that Drexler performed well against Michael Jordan. His team may have lost to Jordan's but Jordan never shut Drexler down continually. Drexler also never played defense like Kobe or Wade.
