1992 Dream Team vs 2012 Dream Team

Featured Replies

Which team is better?

I just posted on my Facebook wall that I think 2012 would beat 1992.

Too much athleticism and too much scoring. I am keeping it strictly where the Hall of Famers from 1992 were at in 1992 and where he future Hall of Famers are in 2012. Because of that I think 2012 wins.

Nah, 1992 would win easily. Too much Michael Jordan and too much old school.

Jordan was only the best player by name in 1992. Barkley outperformed him in the Olympics.

There was so much talent on that team that they were just in cruise control. That was the best basketball team ever assembled. They had everything from shooters, to passers to scorers to defenders.

I don't think they could keep up with 2012 in a 7 game series. 1992 has the names and the pedigrees and the obvious respect from everyone but I can see this 2012 team being just as good if not better.

Being only 7 when they played, it's hard for me to truly comment on the original Dream Team. But, from watching clips and games from those guys, I feel like they played with an amazing chemistry.

Its really tough to look at scores and stats too because I do think that the level of competion that the 2012 guys will face is leaps and bounds better than the 1992 team faced.

My vote goes to 1992.

I'm not sure you'll ever find many or perhaps any people who will ever agree with you. As you say, the Dream Team has the names, and likely no other team will ever have ones that command the same respect.

That's the hard part of this debate. I am at 60 comments and counting on Facebook and getting past the names and careers is challenging to say the least.

Who does everyone see as the final 12 for this team?

Mine looks like this

1. Carmelo Anthony

2. Chris Bosh

3. Kobe Bryant

4. Kevin Durant

5. Blake Griffin

6. Dwight Howard

7. Lebron James

8. Lamar Odom

9. Chris Paul

10. Derrick Rose

11. Dwyane Wade

12. Deron Williams

I think once people peel away the layers and layers of respect for the 1992 team and if they pay attention to the NBA today and look at this 2012 roster. I mean my gosh....Kobe, Lebron, Wade, CP3, DRose, Deron Williams, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, Dwight Howard, Lamarcus Aldridge, Kevin Durant......I mean come on. That squad is crazily legit and equally comparable to 1992 in my eyes. Where all of these guys are today....that is a sick sick roster.

And I still hadn't mentioned Carmelo or Bosh.
