January 12, 201214 yr I think you can get it even cheaper if you just print it off and don't file electronically.That's what the software costs. There are additional filing fees if you want to go the electronic/direct deposit route. If you file 1040 EZ you can do federal for free. State will cost you $37.

January 12, 201214 yr Even will all that I have to do I like to do them myself, unless time becomes an issue. About 6 years ago when a few of my Scorps had some owership changes and such I had a CPA do the corp returns and my personal, cost me $3800. Ouch

They did audit part of my return one year. It was when they were doing the tax credit for buying a house. Talk about a pain in the butt. Some of it is about comfort especially for my wife. I'm about 90% sure I am going to do it on my own this year.
