Oh.....Heat over Thunder in 6.

 

 

Never got my prediction in.

The compressed schedule this year is going to hamper those teams that are getting long in the tooth and have very little depth.

The Lakers are one team that will feel the wrath of the schedule. Their bench is awful. However, one big trade could change a lot of things for "Showtime".

I think the four best teams in the West are OKC, Denver, Spurs and the Clippers. Did I really just have the Clippers as a top four team.

In the East it will all be the Heat unless the Bulls can knock them off. The Celtics are probably sitting in that third spot but the schedule will do them no favors. The Magic are probably the fourth team as long as they hang on to Howard.

I like the Knicks but hate their guards. Plus the schedule will hurt them with fragile guys like Amare and Chandler.

A young, athletic team with a young, athletic point guard such as my 76ers could take advantage of the compressed schedule.

How about you don't try to tell me how I should feel about someone? Did I say everyone had to feel this way? Sure didn't.

 

I like the Warriors and I hate they went with a TV personality over someone who has actually coached before. Next thing you know Teddy Bruschi will be hired to coach the Chiefs.

 

Wow someone must have had a bad day. I know me and you have went back and forth on things before, however I didn't mean anything by this. Just that if you don't like him just because of that, then why not be mad at the team for being the ones stupid enough to give a guy who was just on tv a shot. He did nothing wrong, he just was very lucky. If he got the job then great, if not he already had a good career anyways. It was a Win-Win situation for him, and I bet anyone of us would love to get a job without having to work our ways up the latter haha. I mean I even agreed he probably would have been better off being assistant first, because he probably would be a better coach for it. He was lucky though, so good for him. I know for me I really don't care anyway. Don't like him but don't hate him either, if anything jealous that he got lucky like that.

People would be outraged if an NFL team hired a guy with no experience to be a HC. If Bruschi was hired by a team this off-season people would say no way. It is a slap in the face to the coaches in the NBA that a guy that hasn't even coached a pee-wee team got a job IMO. No wonder the NBA is a joke.

 

See I agree with all that. That is why I don't get being mad at him, he did nothing wrong. It was a win-win situation for him, it was the team who was stupid for giving him the shot. It is not right, but anyone of us would take a good job too, if we got offered a great paying job even though we didn't have to work our way up to it. So good for him, bad for the team to do that though!

I don't think it was the Warriors hiring an announcer so much as it was Mark Jackson making a paycheck before a coaching job came open. There are some players everybody knows will be coaches and Jackson was always one of them. He is going to do a good job in Golden State.

This makes sense also. I like Mark Jackson and hope he does well in Golden State.

I do think someone like Peyton Manning could go from tv to head coach right away in the NFL and I don't think people would be outraged. Point guards are capable of the same. The good ones are coaches on the floor. Doesn't guarantee success obviously. Just saying I can understand the allure in some situations.

Some observations from the first slew of games:

 

-The Heat are good. Very good. They can be beaten, but it's going to take a huge effort. LeBron not settling for jumpers is making them darn near unbeatable.

 

-The Cavs are no where near as bad as I was expecting. Irving looks pretty solid IMO.

 

-The Wizards, Pistons, Jazz, and Suns are the early favorites for the Anthony Davis sweepstakes.

 

-Kevin Durant will win the MVP award this season.

 

-The Hornets will be much better than advertised. Same with the Pacers.

 

-(Non-Heat) Most Impressive: Atlanta, Golden State, Denver, San Antonio

 

-Clippers will need to learn they can't just outscore everyone. They need to find a defensive identity.

 

-My Big Bold Prediction: The Boston Celtics will miss the postseason.

 

-My Finals Prediction: Miami vs. Oklahoma City (Heat in 7) :puke:

Maybe in his 9th season LeBron has realized he is not a perimeter player. Can get to the rim at ease, but has always refused to so that he can unsuccessfully continue to try and prove he can shoot the ball or did not want to go to the rack late to avoid the FT line in crunch time. I have no clue, but it appears to have maybe clicked with him. He cannot be stopped when he goes to the rim. The best stat for the Heat thus far is that through 3 games, James has not attempted a three point shot. In the past LeBron has been a high volume shooter (200+ three point attempts through a season). He was always at the bottom of that list. Assuming the pieces stay healthy, the Heat should win it all and should do so easily. For this year and the next few.

 

I will believe the Clippers success when it happens. Until then I am expecting a host of Sportscenter highlight dunks followed by, "but they fall to the (insert team) 111-94." I cannot put any long term hope in to anything related to Donald Sterling.

He's a highly emotional player. That stuff happens. Now, if we want to discuss whether or not he's the right fit for that team, I'd agree he isn't. The two PGs that could POTENTIALLY be available that would make sense IMO are DWill and Rondo. :idunno:
