Who's a better "football" player than him????????? Honey Badger maybe but IMO Griffin is the best player in college football this year thus he should win. AND he is the most important player to his team.

 

 

 

You guys kill me with this pretty boy popularity stuff. Yeah Trent Richardson run for huge numbers against SEC defenses, so did Mark Ingram, Bo Jackson, and countless other SEC running back Heisman winners. Yeah that is an impressive feat rushing against all those good defenses and being a big part of arguably the best team in the country (or at least one of the top three teams). BUT, just like Ingram did, Richardson had success at Bama. Heck, put Raymond Sanders or Cos Williams behind that line and with all those players and I bet they put up beast numbers too.

 

Luck is a good player, probably going to be #1 draft pick and probably going to be a perennial pro bowler in the league. Luck also had the advantage of being coached by Harbaugh for most of his career and the luxury of playing against putrid Pac 12 defenses. Luck also had the benefit of a great defense and solid run game.

 

 

 

 

You guys can disagree all you want, no ones to say who's right or wrong it's all just a matter of opinion. But for what I stand for in sports and what I like to see in sports the Heisman committee will never make a better decision than what they did last night. They broke the traditional mold of giving it to the best guy on one of the best teams or most marketable or flashy guy and gave it to the guy who went out and earned it on the field. I realize all five put up incredible numbers and had the stats and seasons to be worthy, even guys who didn't make it to NYC like Barkley and Moore. BUT, Griffin III willed Baylor to win after win on nothing but grit and determination. None of those other guys could have orchestrated comebacks and been such a decisive factor in winning and losing like RG3, none of them. RG3 had none of the luxuries guys like Richardson and Luck did but achieved more in way of on field success IMO. He truly was the best football player in college this year and in a normal year had he not been on a BCS team he probably wouldn't have won. I say he is most deserving because despite the normal requisites of Heisman winners, RG3 won in spite of that.

I'm glad he won and thought it was the right choice. I just think it's a huge leap to say he was the most deserving ever. That isn't even close to be accurate.

As you can see and as most of you guys know from memory, the Heisman is usually awarded to one of the best players on one of the best teams. There's no way you can argue Baylor is one of the best teams this season, thus the reason for my statement RG3 is the most deserving ever because he won the Heisman in spite of the team he played for or the exposure he got. RG3 got the least amount of exposure of any Heisman winner ever, and had it not been for that last game of the year in which Bama and Stanford was idle he would have more than likely not won the award. RG3 deserved the award this year and despite all past precedents won, for that I say he is the most deserving. He really did deserve to win, although he didn't have the appeal that the previous winners had (playing for a potential National Champion).

True, but the also played on two of the best teams, and until this year that was normally the formula for winning the Heisman. RG3 won it while not playing for a National Championship contender. The reasoning for my statement is that RG3 won in spite of not playing for the fashionable team or getting the exposure normally required to win the Heisman. I mean it was basically a grass roots campaign until the last few weeks of the season. Tebow and Bush were two of the most celebrated players in college football history and the two of them also had a couple National Championships apiece. Bush played for a rejuvenated and at the time unmatched (in terms of hype) USC team and likewise Tebow played for a dominant Florida (under Urban Meyer) team. Griffin played at Baylor and still won, wow.

Man I told you all about 3 years ago that he was going to be the real deal. Only more long-tenured RGIII supporters are his family/friends and Art Briles. Love that he won the Heisman. I could only make a case for Mathieu as to being a better player this year.

It was a prediction from a 19 year old college student. It was going to be outlandish. He's moved up to the 2nd QB on the board this year behind the best pro prospect of the decade so its not like he was a bust. Any other year he'd have a shot at being the first QB off the board.

I'm with Dolamite. In my short lifetime, he is the most deserving heisman we've had. He wasn't voted because of politics. He was voted because he was the best player in football. Is he the greatest player ever? Probably not, but he was the most valuable to ever win. Without him, Baylor would have been a nobody. Take away any of the other finalists from their respected teams, and their teams would've still had just as good of a year or slightly worse. Without him, Baylor doesn't make a bowl game. He's one of the few running qb's that is a quarterback who can run, not a running quarterback. He has a sweet looking pass and will make a great pro. If I has a mid 1st rd pick, I wouldnt hesitate to draft him. He put up amazing numbers, graduated school early, and is an excellent ambassador for the game. I just dont think his team could've won 4 games without him. I'm super happy he won. He may be the most interesting man in college football. Haha.
