Eh maybe. People need to look at the systems people are in, before saying well he is definitely the best. I think you could take Gresham from the Bengals put him with the Saints, and Gresham would be putting up huge numbers too. While if Graham was with the Bengals he would do well like Gresham but not as good as he has for the Saints. A system can dictate who a player will do, and how good he looks, and the types of numbers he puts up. No doubt he is VERY GOOD, however the system he is in gives him a better chance to stand out than other TE's.

True. It must be taken into account also that the Saints system has been established for years(won a Super Bowl with it) but this is the first time the tight end has not only been a weapon in their system but their most effective weapon in the system. I have to give Jimmy that credit.

The Green Bay game was close throughout, I don't remember if the Chicago game was though. However if your going to count Newton's yard total in games when trying to come back, then you can't count Dalton's in games they lose while trying to come back. I believe Dalton's two biggest yardage games have came against Denver and the Ravens. Two games where the Bengals were down a few scores and had to air it out the rest of the game to try to come back. We all talked about after those games how Dalton gave them a chance to comeback by doing that. So the same has to be said for Newton.

 

Obviously I would LOVE to see Dalton win rookie of the year. He would deserve it if he were to win it. However I just have to give it to Newton because his numbers for the overall with everything he does is better. Not to mention he has done more than less. I said all off season that the Bengals had good players on their team, so IMO Dalton did not go to a team with not much around him like Newton did. Last year Carolina scored less than 10 offensive touchdowns.

The offense was clicking and for some reason they went back to an I formation set with a fullback in for a majority of the plays late and he was afraid to kick a 48 yard FG in Denver. I'll take stats getting your team in a position to tie or win the game over stats down two scores with under 1 minute to go all day every day. Carolina had zero chance to win the Chi and GB games on Newton's last drives those games.

They have been basically in every game and a shot to win every game because of what he was doing throughout the game. They ended up not winning because it still wasn't enough offense to overcome how bad their defense is. Not to mention he is doing more with less to work with than Dalton. I love Andy Dalton, however Newton went to a team with not much to work with at all. While Dalton went to a team with a good defense, decent runningback, and talented young guys to throw the ball too. Remember I am basically the only one who talked about hwo the Bengals could be a good team this year, because of the talent they had. So I can't go against that now, because Dalton did come to a good situation even though most people didn't believe me at the time.

It's really hard to overcome the amount of games he spent on the bench. I do agree that on a per game basis his stats are the most impressive of anyone's and he might just be the best player of the group, but I can't see him winning the award.

Quite simply the difference is the schedule. Newton is in a really tough division and has to play GB's division this year. Let's not act like the Bengals have that much better of a roster. Like I said I'll take Steve Smith and those RB's and TE's every single time. Smith looked like he was declining b/c the person throwing to him was terrible. The Gals still have zero good wins except possibly at Tennessee but Tennessee benefited from Blaine Gabbert and Curtis Painter being in their division so I'm not sure how good that win is. I still say Gals win 10 games Dalton wins the award.
