I think it's going to take Urban a couple years (2-3 seasons) to have Ohio State back to an "elite" level. The scholarship hit they're most likely going to take from NCAA sanctions is going to hurt, even with Meyer's ability to recruit.

 

That will hurt, how much we don't know due to further rulings haven't been announced yet or if there are any. Meyer has plenty of talent that is already at OSU right now. Tressel is gone but the athletes/talent is there.

Meyer is lnown as the best recruiter in the country and imo he will still be able to bring players in. Some Penn Staate recruits may reconsider considering what all is going on there,I don't know.

I would not doubt if OSU isn't right there fighting for a Big 10 title next season.

 

One thing is for sure, if the reports of a 7year - $40 Million contract are correct then he had better produce pretty soon. lol

Meyer hasn't experienced high pressure yet. He gets it x3 in Columbus. As far as off the field player arrests, he's used to that at Florida and that culture won't change in Columbus. I'm curious what his family thinks because they just lost their father again.

It's a home run hire for Ohio State and for Meyer. But his exit from UF raises some question over how long he's on the sidelines.

I was just logging on to recall that. Even though it was in that article, Herbstriet was just on sportscenter and stated that the repotts about him were false, that he was not going to be the qb coach or any asst. coach.

No need to apologize, I believe the article you posted was just speculating to who he might get. I don't think it was saying it was a done deal. As far as if it will happen I would hate to see it happen. I think he is one of the best at what he does currently and would hate to see him give it up.

Me too. In fact, I think they have one of the best pre-game shows for any sport. (I liked even more before they brought in Desmond.)

 

I also don't think it will happen anytime soon, as they just uprooted and moved OUT of Columbus. Just don't see them going back right now.

After a year of turmoil in Columbus finally something to get excited about. Now, if the NCAA would release their findings sometime this decade they could move on.

^I'd say it's the garbage excuse he gave for leaving Florida, then to turn around and take the Ohio State job. Shows Meyer was lying the whole time IMO.

^ Meyer has earned some of the criticism. Yes, it is a great hire for both parties, but the way Meyer waffled when he quit then came back then quit again makes him a legit target for criticism.

I thought Forde's column on the subject hit the nail on the head. Meyer had his first tough moment in 2009 in Florida and the prospects weren't looking any better. He bailed. Every excuse he gave was likely just not true.
