By the looks of these lists football started in NKY in about 1990.

The topic was NKY history, not division 1. Every walk-on entering the next level of football has the "opportunity" to be just as great as a scholarship kid.

 

if you throw for 10,000 yards in college you are pretty darn good. Do you really think he was better than either of the 2 Highlands QB's?

Prior to 1990 you could count the number of qbs who had a 2000 yard season on one hand and have fingers left over. There were some real good qbs in the day that never got the opportunity to throw much. If you look back at Highlands coaching you find Homer Rice, inventor of option football, Owen Hauck, amd Mike Murphy. For those guys 10 passes in a season was to many.

Times have changed.

We agree that stats are not everything. I am also saying that it is a different era and it is not possible to compare era's unless you witnessed both.

Towles is the best I've seen but it's a close race with Lorenzen. I would love to see Towles with Derek Smith freelancing down the field. PT is so accurate with the deep ball, you know it's coming but you just can't stop it.
