November 24, 201114 yr If I tried to list all the blessings in my life that I am thankful for, I would miss Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon because I'd still be here typing. I'm not gonna risk that :lol: I'll just simply say that God has richly blessed me and I am so humbly thankful that he loved a worm like me enough to save me and bless me so much. In the spirit of the season may I be so bold as to make a suggestion to all: When you are shopping over the next few weeks, pick up some extra toys, kids clothes, hats, mittens, toiletries, socks and make a few gift bags that can be taken (in Louisville) to the Center for Women and Children, Wayside Christian Mission, St. Vincent de Paul, etc. Every year I make my kids do this with me (they have come to really appreciate and enjoy delivering them) at Christmas and Easter. We actually shop all year long putting things away to make Christmas baskets. It doesn't cost much, makes you feel like you are having a small impact, and is IMO a good teaching moment for the kids. And even though most attention is (rightfully) given to the Children, something as simple as a couple pairs of socks, deodorant, and mouthwash in a gift bag means an awful lot to a homeless gentleman in our community. (Lest anyone think I am a bleeding heart liberal, I am actually a conservative Republican who happens to think that a community can take care of each other better than the government can.) Peace. November 24, 201114 yr ^ I could do without the political comment, but agree with the sentiment. Don't forget our eldery in the nursing homes, either. Many do not have families that visit them, not just during the holidays, but throughout the year.

November 24, 201114 yr Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! I'm thankful that I can share it with Mrs PH and all my great friends here! Last year wasn't so great with all the health problems, which started almost exactly one year ago and didn't let up until the middle of January. Just a few minutes ago, I got through mashing the potatoes!! I'll think of all of you at one time or another today! And to the John Hardin fans and team: be careful on the trip here, and best of luck tomorrow...it should be an epic battle. Win or lose, I'll be glad to shake hands after the game! :thumb:
