I believe LO will win this one one too. I know Franklin Simpson is a very good team also. It can go either way, but I'm pulling for the Purple Flash on this one. I know how bad they want to make it back to state, as time is running out due to the consolidation of the high schools. Hope to see a good game

lone Oak is playing very good right now and boy are they explosive! I'll take the Purple Flash at home.

I think Franklin-Simpson is better, but man it is tough to win at Lone Oak. It's no coincidence that they only win in the playoffs when at home.

Lone Oak Purple Flash

First Round: defeated Breckinridge County 63-21

Second Round: defeated Owensboro 56-19

All-Time Regional Final Record: 2-2

Franklin-Simpson Wildcats

First Round: defeated Calloway County 56-0

Second Round: defeated Madisonville-North Hopkins 20-17

All-Time Regional Final Record: 10-3

Past Playoff Meetings

1982 - Franklin-Simpson 34 Lone Oak 0

2009 - Lone Oak 49 Franklin-Simpson 7

2010 - Lone Oak 35 Franklin-Simpson 32

I know a lot of Lone Oak's critics like to harp on it, but since 2007, Lone Oak has only played two true road games in the playoffs. Both were losses at Allen County in 2008 and 2010. In 2008, it was to a team that had won the distirct title. Last year, it was a 7-point loss to a team that got to the state finals. No shame in either one of those.

I believe Franklin Simpson is the better team. I can see them going into the Graveyard and getting the victory.

There's certainly no shame, but it is very easy to believe that if they go on the road in '07 to Warren East, they lose. That if they play on the road in '08 against Warren East or in '10 against Franklin-Simpson, they lose (granted - those were both earned home games, not circumstances of the year). 2009 is the only year I believe Lone Oak was unapproachable either at home or on the road in the playoffs.

Maybe nothing should be made of them not winning on the road, but I believe it is extremely valid to point out the advantage they have at home.

No argument about the Warren East game in '07 ... that game could have gone either way and was tied in the final seconds.

And no argument about home-field advantage, some of which was earned.

Lone Oak 37-33.

Lots of rain falling, what kind of field does LO have and its condition?

Either way, everyone else is playing for second place behind Highlands. The Bluebirds coming to 4A pretty much eliminated any hopes of Lone Oak ever winning a state title. Lone Oak won't even exist as a high school in a couple of years. Then McCracken County can play for second place behind the Louisville schools in 6A.

Depressing but it might be true.

In any event, I think LO takes this game Friday night. FS is an excellent team but LO has improved greatly since the start of the season. I'm optimistic the Flash will make it back to Bowling green this year!:thumb:

I think Lone Oak is playing very well right now and that the talent level of these 2 teams is relatively even, so, I'm going to give the edge to the home team. Should be very close either way.
