CCH did not double Bruns in September and had great success up the middle.

 

JC had no answer for him and I mean NO Answer from what I heard. He was tackling two guys at once, blowing up the center, all over the field. The kid has a motor that wont quit. I think he will have a much higher motor with this game being potentially his last as a Bluebird.

I would like to rescind my earlier prediction that the healthier team will prevail. I have seen the light and agree w nky Harry team w most points will win this game.

Seriously, my point was that HHS's quick-strike ability and aggressive defense will overcome the ball-control strategy. CC may win the time of possession battle, but HHS will still win the points war, IMO.

 

Even if HHS isn't as healthy as CC, I think HHS can overcome that with more depth. They lost all-everything Towles after the first series and still beat Elder.

Bruns destroyed JC. Part of that was great anticipation of the snap, and the other part had to be great scouting by the Highlands staff. He knew where the ball was going a couple of times and just blew by the center and guard. After the game, he walked on his hands in the end zone (that has nothing to do w/ anything, just impressive for a kid that size). I wish that I had half as much energy.

Kind of like Highlands has owned CovCath....get used to it.

I would like to see Highlands run True, Harris and Seidel more in this game. That would be a nice change of pace and make Towles even tougher to stop.

The Birds took what JC gave them last Friday. PT threw for 400+ yards but only 1 TD pass. It just so happened that many of the receivers were shopped short of the goal line which led to several TD runs.

I bet you really enjoyed last week's game as the Birds ran for 8 TDs and PT only threw for only 1 TD, although he did throw for over 400 yards.

 

Don't get me wrong, I really like Towles' passing, I just think more diversity would make it much tougher for Covington Catholic. I still think Towles will pass for 300 yards.

Birds are a tough team to stop period. They have not punted much all year. Put the points on the board and see what happens. Like the late Al Davis use to say "Just win baby" . Everyone contributes in this game.

BTW, I've noticed CCH fans feeling their oats on here also. That's ok too, the team has earned their confidence.

Clyde, was there another fumble in 2nd quarter around mid field? I was thinking there was one more in 1st half.

 

I've heard about all these turnovers but for the life of me I can only remember 2 by HHS and 1 by CCH. I also recall some nice returns by the Colonels. Lots for both teams to be working on and we all know they are.
