November 10, 201114 yr Anyone who says Twitter is dumb either doesn't have one, or are too stubborn to learn how to use it. Great source of information. Forget what celebrities and other people have to say...it's all about having the most up-to-date information on any subject you desire. This X100000 People who don't use it think it is just for celebs to stroke their ego. It is that if you want it to be, but you can make it to where you hardly have to see anything any celebrity tweets. Plus it is a lot more closed off than Facebook, which is a good thing.

Consider me stubborn, but also consider me as someone who doesn't want to "follow" anyone, and who doesn't want anyone to "follow" me. And I disagree wholeheartedly with your assessment that it is not sycophantic. By its very nature it is thus. And stop comparing it to facebook as though that's somehow going to make it a must-have. My buddy and I argued vehemently about this, and I won. There's no rule that says people who don't like Twitter love facebook.

I've seen it in texts I've received! WHY?! :irked:

As an old guy who has had due to work, to carry a pager around before some of you young guy's were even thought of by your Mom and Dad and who started carrying a cell phone when they used to weight around five/six pounds, I personally could care less about having up to the second information any longer! Why is it so important to know at ever second what is going on......:idunno: Slow down and enjoy life......:thumb:
November 10, 201114 yr Bravo, Theoldguy. :notworthy: Slow down and enjoy life. Indeed. Coincidentally, I deleted my twitter account last week and my facebook account is probably next. Life is too short now, I waste too much of it on useless pursuits.
November 10, 201114 yr Call me a follower. I love my twitter, facebook, linkedIn, FourSquare, google+1.
November 10, 201114 yr I personally really enjoying learning about Kentucky basketball through Twitter.
November 10, 201114 yr It's used to signal/track trending topics on twitter. You see it on Facebook because some people have their accounts setup to post whatever they are saying on both sites.Or they just have no clue what it means and are using it on Facebook as well. I've seen that too.

I use Twitter for news the way I want it. It works extremely well for that purpose.
November 10, 201114 yr Back before any public way on conversing I wrote this in 1978/1979 Bama is #1. Right now we are #3. & @ this time I have no $!

Like it or not, my phone is attached to my person. Some jobs simply require it. So, if you've got it attached you might as well use it to keep up with what's going on. I spend a lot of time in my car covering a lot of territory (5 states) so I communicate in many ways through my phone. Twitter is one as it helps me keep up with what's going on , and this is key, IF I AM INTERESTED. I get to choose who I get updates from. You won't see me following people that provide no valuable info to me. I don't follow people who put out news that doesn't interest me. I was like a lot of people at the beginning when I though it was just people telling me where they were going to eat. The beauty is if I do not care I do not get that info because I CHOOSE not to.
November 10, 201114 yr Jim, am I sycophantic because I follow "Breaking News," "ESPN Films," "Xavier Athletics?" CNN? Blogs? Musicians?
